Thanks for posting all the information guys but I'm sure a lot of guys are still confused as I am with all of this. From what I gathered reading over the posts so far is that I will need to order obviously the 2018 LED headlights and the connector on page 2 to make these lights work. I'm I understanding this correctly?

What I would like on my truck once the lights are installed is that when the truck is running the DRL are on much like they are on the new Sierras and Silverados. Right now on my 2016 the lights that come on are on the inner orange lights and I am not a big fan of that look.

I truly hope that one of you guys will either give instructions or provide a video of how to get this look on my truck. I know if I would post information to help everyone out if I knew what it took to achieve this look. But when it comes to this stuff I rely on you experts out there.

Hope one of you guys out there can help us all.

    Thanks so much!

With the new headlights you'd get exactly what you're talking about. The wires for the amber drl are used to power the white drl strip in the 2018 headlight.

That is incorrect. That same wire is for your front signals. To get a drl in an sr5 you would have to tap off an ignition source and use a relay. If you want to disable the amber drl you can cut the grey wire under the dash. But it will still act as a signal.

Thanks for the correction. I've got a limited. On my retros I cut the pinkish wire to disable the amber drl. I assumed that wire would provide power for the drl in the 2018 headlight.

Anyone upgrading to 2018 headlights that are replacing retrofits? I'd be interested in buying your used retros, especially if they have the platinum style led DRL

Sorry I'm a bit confused. On my 2016 Pro my DRL's/turn signals are a switchback style factory set up. When driving the ambers light up as the DRL's. When I activate the turn signal it switches to the amber turn signal in that same bulb. My turn signals and my DRL's are the same bulbs/plugs, how would that work with the new 2018 LED headlights(DRL's & Turn signals)?

I want to order these A.S.A.P. if they work.

    Thank you

As @BlueBottle pointed out, I could be wrong but, I looked at this schematic https://www.tundras.com/threads/201...-wiring-info-with-diagrams.16225/#post-347440

The pinkish wire would provide power to the DRL just as it does with your present lights. But it would be the strip and not the amber. The other 2 are the turn signal and ground. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. On my lights (I have retros) I've cut the pinkish wire and disabled the amber DRL. My DRL is powered like bluebottle said, from the fuse box and not using the pinkish wire, but I don't see why I couldn't have used the pink wire. The above wiring diagram utilizes factory plugs that use the pink wire.

So good news and bad news. I put together a PnP harness according to my diagrams and for the most part it worked, until it was time to flip on the high beams. The way our trucks are wired the low beams shut off when the hi beams are turned on. The 2018 LED headlights keep the low beams on with the high beams, so simply wiring it up the way I had it shown (like a traditional H4 bulb) won’t work.

I’ve come up with plan B. I’ve made revised diagrams with an updated parts list and tried it out and it works. Now I’ll be using the wiring from a Morimoto motocontrol H4/9003 Bi-Xenon HID relay harness. It will be hooked up just as it would if you were doing a HID retrofit. With this relay harness the headlights will keep the low beams on with the high beams just like the 2018’s. I’ve updated my thread with the new info.

Do you need to modify the Motocontrol? Because I have a H4 Morimoto HID kit in my truck now.

Nope, no mods to the relay harness. I also already have one installed, that's where the thought to use it came from. I'm going to add the male connectors to my Pnp harness so I can simply unplug from hid components then plug into the LED harness for an easy changeover

These look extremely tempting, beautiful craftsmanship on the design. What is needed to wire these to a 2016 Platinum? How is the light output compared to HIDs? If I order these, I'll likely have a very nice set of retros for sale soon.

This is awesome @Roman. I'll be placing an order for these as my 2014 platinums tend to build up condensation. I see the fogs are also available. I wish I didn't just install the mori LED fogs because I certainly would get these too. I dislike the fitment of the mori's. I hope someone makes a nice PnP harness soon for the 14' Platinum.

Just like that, $700 spent. Figured while I was ordering the lights I could pick up some other stuff to save on shipping.

@Roman I didn't see that I needed to purchase two harnesses until after I paid for the headlights. Can I add them to my order? If so, just send me your Paypal address and I'll send the funds. My order for the headlights is: 20773

    Thanks!

Are you talking about the connectors? I don't have any conversion harnesses. I would think someone should be coming up with them and selling them soon, hopefully. Speaking of which...

If you have developed a good quality harness for sale for the community, let me know and I will update the OP with your information on where/how to buy them.
