I ordered a pair of the harnesses from TRS just to see how they compare to the ones I made from scratch. All in all, not bad.

    TRS harness Pros:

    Motocontrol Relay Harness not needed
    Simplified wiring

    TRS harness Cons:

    18 awg wiring (I used 16awg)
wiring terminal seals fit poorly, terminals have too much wiggle/play in 8pin connector
unused spots on plugs do not come with rubber hole plugs to help seal out moisture

If you're going the TRS harness route I would recommend ordering 10 Sumitomo MT/TS/HX/SL cavity plugs (CONN-100550) to fill in the blank spots

    See fine print
Do the lows stay on w the highs? All switching is seemless? Flash to pass works low + high?

I only bench tested the harness with the extra headlight I had in storage. The lows do stay on with the highs. I'll try testing the other features again tomorrow using the new harness with the unused passenger side 3 prong plug on the truck

So is it better to order the harness from retrofit or ihacker?

I cant see how you dont need a motocontrol. As that harness sends the power for the low/high beams.

I bout my harness which retains the dim feature, then ordered the motocontrol for the headlights. Mine works flawless plus i did the drl delete so it looks even more oem. I actually inspired a toyota tech to do his tundra when i was there the other day getting it serviced.

The only thing that I can come up with is a jumper wire from hi beam to lo beam with a diode to isolate them. When the lo beam is on, the diode keeps power from going to the hi beam, but when you turn on hi beams, it allows power to go to the lo beam also keeping the lo beam on.

I just tested the TRS harness against my original design on the truck. The TRS harness does keep the low beam on with the high beam, so it does work without the Morimoto relay harness. The flash to pass works exactly the same as it does on the original setup. The only other difference is with the TRS harness, the slight delay upon shutting the lights off is gone, they shut off instantly.

Do you noticed any slightly voltage drop in the Lo Beam wire? I’m waiting a few Schottky diodes to make my own test

Need some help quickly if I can get it. I got the Retrofit Source harness and the headlights or the DRL do not work. I got power coming from the factory harness and power coming from the adapter but nothing. I also noticed that the separate harness for the DRL's don't have a ground wire which is I'm guessing why those don't work.

You will need to use a fuse tap for the LED DRL, no ground needed since this is shared for whole headlight

Not sure the colors they used but must add a fuse tap to the wire in the right side in the connector, in my case I use red wire for the DRL bright. Unless you create your own relay for HI and LO DRL, with their harness you only have HI DRL

They still do nothing even with the fuse tap. The headlights are still nada as well. I called the Retrofit Source and let them know the issues and I haven't heard back from them yet. I'm currently back to the crappy stock headlights since I didn't want to rerun the harness for my retrofits.

Does anyone have the schematic for the 2018 headlight plug? I'm wondering if the wires are in the right spots.

Never even thought to check it. I'm leaving my original wiring setup installed just in case I decide to reinstall my D2S retrofit headlights.

Using diodes as a circuit rectifier produce a drop in voltage for around 0.7V (Vf) not sure if this will affect brightness of headlights

Saw an oddity today, 2018 Tundra Platinum facing me at a stop light had no DRL's on. This was a bone stock truck with paper-plates so I doubt any mod's had been done. Is that something that Toyota is doing on the new trucks? Where you can override the DRL's.

When he turned it was clearly a Platinum and not a lower model without the LED headlights, just curious as there would be situations where you would want the DRLS completely off (if this has been covered I apologize).

DRLs can be turned OFF in 2018 trucks they have that setting in the headlights/turn signals switch, I have seen a few at the dealership and isn’t nothing new I had that feature in my 2015 Tacoma not sure why didn’t include that option in the 2014-2017 Tundras

Easy fix if you want that, just add a dashboard switch to control your DRLs

Are we still able to purchase the headlights through that link? A buddy of mine that works for a dealer was told they were unavailable for purchase unless they were actually working on the vehicle a their shop.

I believe @Roman can still get them. Tbey may be on back order.
Sounds like your buddies dealer wants people in the door , so they can charge more, and charge to install?
