2018 OEM LED Headlights

My new lights arrived at the dealer this morning

 

For those of you that did the swap, is the light output really worth the cost in comparison to a retrofit?

 

my morimoto ds2 35w 5000k are not as bright as my new stock 2018 led headlights. they have a wider field of view but much dimmer in the middle compared to the new led. just my experience.

 

Well, should be installed by now! Haha how's the color, is it what you thought?

Just placed my order at Toyota Cool Springs! and the PNP harness through retrofit wholesale
Ill made sure to add some cool pictures after everything arrives and is installed.

 

Does anyone know why after installing the 2018s in my Tundra that I would be getting hyperflashing turn signals...but only when the parking lights or headlights are on? Turn signals work without an issue when just the DRLs are on. Trying to figure out the issue before taking everything back apart.

So its official!! I ordered the headlights and should be ready to be picked up tomorrow at my dealer. Got them for 290 a pop. SO My month old retros will be forsale. Yes im that guy who doesnt know what the hell he wants. While at the dealer i saw the headlights in an 18 limited black housing and looked amazing. So i went to my parts buddy and ordered lol.

 

Where in New York are you, and do you got any pics of them retros for sale. I am ready to upgrade my headlights also.

Do these come with LED bulbs? What is the part number for the bulbs? I'm curious about output, color temperatures, etc.

 

The bulbs come with the headlights. The led low/highs are a sealed unit. Only thing that can be replaced are the blinker bulb and the parking lights

 

Thanks for the quick reply! Is the blinker a 3157ck like earlier 3rd gen models? @BlueBottle were you able to re-use your VLED switchbacks?

 

Yes I used the VLEDs that was meant for the 3157CK. I had to use my original bulb socket though. and also please note - you do NOT need to re-pin the socket if your going to use the 3157CK VLED. hope that makes sense

 

No its a 7444na bulb but the plug is the same just remember to swap the wires.

if you use a 3157CK bulb / socket you do NOT need to swap the wires.

 

Gotcha, but you pulled the bulb housing from the old headlights? Do you lose the white light DRL functionality of the switchbacks now that there is a separate DRL? Sorry if this has all been answered before (I'm sure it has), I am way too lazy to go read the entire thread.

 

I never had drl there since I have a platinum. So I don’t have switchbacks. But to answer your question is as long as you don’t change the wiring on the signal connector you won’t lose it.

 

Thanks, I appreciate the help from both you and @darkknight2014. I'm considering just going with an amber LED for the turn signals as the extra DRL might be a bit much on top of the included DRL.

Are side marker/parking light bulbs included? What is the bulb type? These were not included in the 2016 SR5 headlights.

 

all bulbs but the headlight are included in the '18 headlamps. they are the same as earlier gen2's though just FYI.

 

I swapped the stock halogen side marker to led, i left the blinker bulb alone till i pull the trigger on the vled v6. And i did the drl amber delete. Probably one of my favorite mods so far get a lot of compliments about the new lights even from the tech at Toyota said it looked good.

 

What is the bulb type for the side marker? I'd like to swap out all the bulbs at the time of install so I don't have to mess with it again. I've had my headlights out many times and would like this to be the last. =]

 

@Backslider remember to follow the wiring harness instructions to a T. @BlueBottle has a platinum so his wiring was basically already setup for led drls our sr5s arent

Understood and willco. Seems pretty straight forward so far. I might actually wire the DRL into an open spot in my sPOD so I can turn them off or on.

 

I just wanted the stock 2018 oem look. Looks very sharp.

 

If he is using 3157ck bulbs he doesn’t have to repin the turn signals. The reason of the repin is because the 18 uses a different type bulb.

 

Did you wire in resistors or use a harness/adapter to prevent hyperflash?
