I found I can get the cs650components for the front for for 150. The coaxials for the rear doorsfor for115. The Jx400 amp to drive them for for about 140. That's 410 for the the amp and speakers. How mow much for wiring harness and install from a local???

I got my reply from Toyota...take it to the dealer to check for problem. It should not be a big difference in sound from the 2013 system that I had. As I described it to my dealer...it seems that the rear speakers are not getting enough power. We'll see what they say next Tuesday.

Mine was checked and everything was in good working order, they all sound like crap. A couple days ago I received a phone call from the same lady (Toyota Corporate HQ) who replied to my email, she wanted to follow up with me. I told her what I had stated in my email and what the dealer told me. She said that were no software upgrades or any TSBs out or being developed because there really aren't any complaints they know about. Anyway, she was nice and polite so I bit my tongue and was also nice.

I just fix mine on my own dime. I changed my mind on that stuff in post # 69 and cancelled the order, I thought about it some more and decided that I really didn't need a super loud system and I don't want to perform a major surgery on my new truck. I opted with my first choice and ordered the JBL Enhancement from OEM+ Audio, they have a 7-day lead-time and my order should ship sometime next week.

You can always turn a loud stereo down.........

I'll be interested to hear what your thoughts are on the oem+. Interesting that its just tweeters an amp/processor and a sub. I guess they have confidence in the other door speakers.

It also includes different cross overs for the front door woofers to take some of the bass out and an adjustment knob for the sub-woofer. From what I understand the JBL door speakers are better then the standard version but suffer from to much bass. Also their tweeters come in at 1500 hz.

I am hoping for the best, it sure wasn't cheap. But there really are no cheap options for the JBL stereo.

Are the crossover the "Acoustic Correction Filters (Plug-and-Play)" Are they installed at the door or at the wiring harness under the front passenger seat?

    Take LOTS of picture.

Yes, the crossovers are those filters. Daniel from OEM+ did send me an updated photo (can't find it anymore) of the whole kit and it shows the filters. They look like they plug in between the door harness and the door woofer which would make sense to me.

I will take photos when I install the upgrade. I am going to have a busy day when I tackle it because I also ordered a tailgate Pop & Lock and the Toyota LED lighting kit for the bed; makes sense to install everything in one setting because I have to remove a lot of trim pieces for either job. I think after all that is done the only thing left is remote start, I am leaning towards the EVO 1 but want to wait and see what Toyota comes up with, if it is like the 2017 and below remote start they can keep it (I don't like for the engine to shut off when you open the door).

Same answer..."working as designed". Had I not had the spectacular system in my '13 CM Limited, I probably would have not said anything. I guess I'll deal with it...a new system is not in the budget.

Complain to Toyota directly like I did. If they get enough of us complaining about it they may just do something. I don't think it would be hard to fix. I am pretty sure the hardware is decent and where they messed up is in the software controlling the amp and in turn the sub. I am not an engineer but a software or firmware upgrade would probably turn it in to a "Premium" system.

I think everybody who has the JBL system should complain to Toyota (that is unless you are satisfied with the sound as is).

My 2016 platinum sound system is great. The sub behind the rear seat works and it is obvious. If anything, I turn the bass down.

Sounds to me that many of you have systems that have broken components or were wired up wrong.

My '13 rattled the windows in the car next to me at a light! My '18 seems like there is very little power going to the rear. I had it checked by the dealer..."no problems; functioning as designed". I'm betting there's a glitch that Toyota hasn't caught yet.

By the time Toyota finds the glitch (if there is one) and IF they do find a fix it will be to late for me because I will have it fixed on my own dime.

For those of you that have kept your factory head units, and installed sound processors & new amps. Have you found that you get more volume out of your system? One of my biggest complaints with the JBL premium is the lack of volume. When listening through my phone, I often turn it almost to max volume, and it doesn't seem that loud.

Make sure that the volume on your phone is turned up all the way. You also have to adjust the sound separately for each source.

It is, when I connect my Iphone via bluetooth or USB, you do not have control of the volume via the phone. Head unit only.

It does not get super loud but make sure your source is running at a high quality. It was really bad with Spotify until I turned the quility up to the best level. Not it’s just bad not really bad.
