    Yeah I did, thanks...what fixed the issue on my truck was disconnecting the blue wire, read on the manual that it not necessary when you use the speakers level input.

    I have a 2017. I have the brown and blue left over. I connected the blue but when I turned the truck off the radio stayed on. Disconnected it and it seems to work normal. Thank you for getting back

    I have decided to start with just putting some good component speakers in the front doors. I never have passengers so not even sure if I will ever change out the rears. I am going to see what the speaker change out sounds like and then at later point will probably add an amp and sub. May never change the rear speakers.

    If you keep the factory head unit you want a processor in between the factory head unit and your new amps to flatten the signal and re eq it. If you dont you are just amplifying the crappy sound coming out of the factory head unit.

    As someone that currently only has the speaker level input harness going into the amp I can confirm this. I still haven't put in my new door speakers but so far the new subs I have put in sound so bad I keep the bass knob nearly completely turned off. I will be replacing my head unit ASAP because I can't believe I spent what I spent and it sounds this bad...

    Tried to connect the alpine amp, no sound on 2 channels, went back to connect original amp and no sound on the speakers only on tweeters.

    need help to have sound

    Adding to this outdated post. My fancy Kenwood head unit took a dump recently, so I put the stock radio back, and purchased the KTP-445U based on this post. However, I have a 2nd gen, non-JBL (without the amp). I believe the 2nd gens have wiring under passenger seat for the amp? Ideally, that would have been a much better location in retrospect. That said, I went to town decoding, soldering and heat shrinking all the connections, the power pack attached to the back of the head unit, with a peice of rubber in between for vibration. I wrote out my connectors, pins, and what color goes where, I'll attach that tonight when I get home. It differs from the info listed here.

    I have decent Polk speakers all around, nothing else. With the KTP-445U installed, it made a huge difference. Previous volume at 35 is now 13, with lots more power and range. I'm not at all informed on audio, but know it made a worthwhile difference for minimal cost and effort. I'm still working with 1 arm for the most part as I recover, yet still very doable. 2 arms should make it much easier.     I dont have Alpine headunit. Just the OEM tundra headunit. But should still sound better then Toyota factory amp

    I think the only difference between 445U and 445A are the included wires. The unit itself should be the same. Worth checking though

    445A: specific to Alpine head units. Harness attaches direct to the head unit via connector, same for the speaker side.

    445U: universal for all other brands. Harness has no connectors, you splice it into your existing system.

    Either way, good luck and ask for help before smashing the unit. Ahaha

    Great find! Specific to the non-JBL systems, which is me. Would have saved me a ton of time.

    For reference, here are the colors/speakers for each connector in a 2nd Gen Non-JBL setup at the dash.

    Small connector with 5 wires:
    Rear Right + : Red
    Rear Right - : White
    Rear Left + : Yellow
    Rear Left - : Black
    Tan-ish color (illumination?) Not needed, don't cut

    Large connector with 8 wires:
    Front Right + : Green
    Front Right - : Blue
    Front Left + : Yellow
    Front Left - : White
    White/Black = Ground
    Blue = 12 Accessory
    Gray = Battery (constant power)
    Light Blue = Not sure, not needed. Dont cut

    That link shows 10 and 12 pin connectors, which didn't apply to my non-JBL set up. Mine was 5 and 8 pin. The Metra connectors may help?

    I think you're ok, once you get to the amp under the seat it'll all make sense. All of my stuff is a gen 2 without amp, the initial @brownsno write up and post #8 apply to your setup directly I believe

    Thank you very much. I have SR5 2018 with same under seat amp. Hope 2017 and 2018 sr5 colors are same

    Ill just connect wires based on what you explained in the text file and just go to car and plug it in.

    oh so the color combo is not based on the Factory Amp Upgrade Harness AHH-4438 but on the actual OEM wire harness going to and from the amp. I just need to translate it based on pins

    Ok it is same harness for colors thats good Next question is. Will I need to flip any dip switches in the alpine unit it self?

    Nice. You'll be bumpin in no time!
    Mine was set to RCA by default, adjusted it to speaker level output. Didn't change anything else and threw a peice of electrical tape over the rubber cover for peace of mind
