If you sit for extended times in traffic it will significantly lower your mpg. When I picked up my truck from the dealer with less than a mile it showed 8.7 mpg. I didn't reset the gauge and it has slowly crept up to 13.7 currently after 700 miles. I do live in hilly terrain.

Mine has 1100 miles on it. I'm averaging about 15.3 combined highway and city and idle. Maybe you put E85 in the tank? You should be getting much better unless you have a lead foot.

Still playing with TRD exhaust, city driving. 32 psi, actual calculation was 16.68. Don't trust computer.

On my longer trips, if the conditions permit I travel with cruise set at 100 kph (62mph). At times I'll pass people maybe hitting 80mph but mostly stay dead at 62 and then and only then do I get 20mpg.

Stock sized tires and all highway cruising is the only way to get that number. I average 15 mpg overall.

I added a magnuson super charger a few weeks back and it's only made about 1mpg reduction in my gas mileage. From 12.7 without the Supercharger to 11.5 with it. 75 % of my driving is local. Last week I went 3 hours on the Hwy at 80 ish and didn't see but .2 change to 11.7 mpg on my gauge. I'm going to start checking this to see if it's accurate. I'm hoping for a little better. Thankfully, I have a company gas card.

Mine has been at 14.1 or 14.2 the whole life of the truck and only changed about 4-5 times.

in my 2012 RockWarrior on 35s (Nitto Trail grapplers) I would get 12/13 mpg, on its stock tires (285/70/17 BFG) I would get 17/18 now on this new 2017 TSS crewmax bone stock I am averaging 11 mpg granted I only have 400 miles on it or so, hoping it doesn't drop anymore when I lift it, since its already low.

2016 DC 5.7L 4x4 on 35s and I average 12-13 city/hwy driving. Perfectly content :) My last trip was to Dallas and I averaged 14.3-14.6 on the way up and it was raining half way there.

My Platinum is Brand New and the most I got on an 800 freeway trip was 15mpg. Of course I am in the Pacific NW and have to deal with hills and stop and go traffic.

Anybody know if using mid-grade or premium gas benefit tundras in any way? Just curious if anyone uses either.

It is funny when people bitch about their gas mileage AFTER they buy a Tundra. The slightest bit of research brings up this topic a dozen or so times.

Mine gets 15.5 average. It started a little lower but I now have 4000 miles and it's stayed pretty steady for the last 1000. It doesn't fluctuate much and I drive mostly city with lots of hills but have made a few highway trips across the state. It also doesn't make much difference if I drive aggressively or not. I have found that the computer is almost spot on. My last hand calculation of 30 gallons got me 15.48 mpg. Truck read 15.5. I'm good with that. It's a truck not a Prius.

This was actually one of the reasons that initially kept us from getting one, all I heard from people and reviews was about 14mpg on average. I have been very surprised with the mileage that we've gotten, we get around 16mpg around town and easily 19mpg on road trips and that has been through the hills in PA, that's about what I get in our 14' 4Runner.

While we are talking gas mileage, when I picked mine up at the dealer used, it read 9.8 mpg. The previous owner used it to pull his boat they said. I've now got it up to 12.4. I can tell from that and GPS reading MPH that the truck was never recalibrated for the bigger tires (35s replaced 32s).

I am a math teacher, so I think I've recalculated the gas mileage myself with sound mathematics, but does this sound right to you guys? I calculated 100.5 inches per rotation with the original tires and 110.0 inches per rotation for the 35s. So with equivalent ratios, 100.5/110.0=12.4/x. So x=13.6 from this, so I think that's my actual MPG.

I'm confident with the numbers end, but I'm no good with anything vehicle-related really, so thought I may be overlooking something on that end. I keep looking at mods on here that say "easy" and then I see the steps and realize it's not easy enough for me probably haha.

I think the easier way is to reset your trip odometer whenever you fill up then the next time you fill your tank take the miles traveled and divide it by how many gallons you put in, easy peasy.

The odometer will be wrong with the changed tire size also... I'd have to remember to use a GPS app every trip. Math is easy for me, remembering to do that is harder haha.
