First suspension mod, urethane lower control are mount.

I have done Treehouse lolipops on 3 e30s easy peasy. The Z wanted to kill me.

Off was a real bitch, ok, they have been there since '97 but on should be a no brainer, lining up the holes was an adventure!

Did my first oil change since I had the Hewett canister, installed it.



White bumper marker came, waiting for the fender marker.




Door pull came, waiting for a new mirror switch, the old one works sporadically.

 

Ordered 4 17" M3 ultralight wheels (12lbs) & 4 Pilot sports.

 

Damn, 12lbs?!? That's crazy!

 

Second wheel, tires & Koni shocks came (not unboxing until I get the springs, supposedly tomorrow)


I dropped the OEM airbox & broke a mount, looking for a CAI, made a temp HAI.

Installed an auto dim/Homelink from a modern BMW.

 

Looking good! That is a fun little car. I was seriously looking to swap my E46 M3 convertible for M version of the Z3 for a while!

 

All the Ms around here were either beat to shit or pristine & 20k, This has 10k in maintenance in the last 2 years, was 100% unmolested & has only 150k. It was 4300 because the seller was moving the next day & had to sell.

Just after removing the ASC throttle body, it gets up & goes! I can't wait for the CAI, M50 intake & S52 cams!

 

Hell of a deal! Gonna be a screamer

 

I went to assemble the struts to install the new suspension & don't have the boots or bump stops, First Konis, didn't know they weren't included.






The Racing Dynamics CAI came, missing hardware & the boot to connect it to the MAF is way too small. I contacted them & Frankensteined it.

 

Cams are going back to the seller. After 3 days of being sent to another shop & getting back to the first one, I found a shop willing (for 150/hr x8) to do the job, then I asked about the scoring, first they said none is ok, then maybe depending on how bad it is. Between the cost & possibility it will be a mess I called FedEx, requested they return to sender & created a return on eBay, seller isn't happy.

For almost 2500, I'm 1/2 way to a new SC for MAYBE 20hp, NO!

 

3rd wheel is the charm, #2 is boxed up & going back to Canada.

 

New black kidneys, shift knob & boots for the shifter & parking brake, need a new leather handle before I scrape the current one off the brake.

 

Did the brake boot after I found I can get handles like the one I have for 40 or a new one for 120, I conditioned mine.




Racing Dynamics sent the missing parts.

 

I changed the plugs & cold compression tested and got a high of 195 & low of 187.5 two were 190 & one was 192.5. The swing is 7.5 well under 10% difference so it's good no?

Yeah, I'd say it's healthy

It's like an addiction, once you have a car with boost, every car needs boost

But yeah, that should be fine as long as the tune is solid and fueling is good...not familiar with BMW engines in particular, but your compression check indicates a healthy engine.

 

Homelink auto dim compass mirror & radar detector installed. Powers on with ignition.

 

Driver door pull came. Can't find masking tape that sticks to the door card.

1400 for the bottom, 600 for the top (older than the bottom, needs to be replaced too) and 250 for new filters, 175 to install. Ain't pools fun???
