Hey, got the ECU update on my 2014 two days ago noticed my mileage dropped from 15.4 to 14.0 overnight. Nothing else changed on the truck so I wonder if the update included tranny shift point change or some other software change? Can't believe the air sensor change would affect my engine that much when I had not seen any issue for 11000 miles. I can't feel much of a difference in power or shifting but not sure you would. Anybody else seeing this? Thxs

Presuming the computer was reset, it'll re-learn the mileage based on your driving habits...I think.

I'm hoping it's that simple. When I first got the truck back the mileage read 13 mpg which got my attention. I filled the tank and put a fifteen miles on it and it jumped to 14.1 mpg but it's not moved since, even babying it. I'll advise after this tank runs out. Thnx!

This. And it's normal for it to happen when they reset the ECU.

Every time you press and hold the "disp" button while viewong the mpg screen, you can reset your mpg's. I do it every time I fill up, as well as the tripmeter so I can calculate. I bet that just got reset, no biggie!

Quick question... I haven't had this "flash" thing done yet... Do you think its an issue if I wait? I have a busy couple of weeks ahead of me and its going to be hard making time for it. Is there a time limit? Will my engine self destruct if I wait? :D Been stressin about it a little lol...

    Self destruct is eminent!

Jk. I haven't had time either. I think we are ok.

    Title
Limited Service Campaign (LSC) F0A - Certain 2012 -2014 Model Year Tundra and Sequoia Vehicles - ECM Software Update

    Status
    Remedy Available

    Description
In certain 2012 - 2014 Model Year Toyota Tundra and Sequoia vehicles equipped with a 5.7 Liter gasoline or 5.7 Liter-Flex Fuel engines, the Engine Control Module (ECM) may set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if debris/ice becomes lodged in the air switching valve. If this occurs, the Malfunction Indicator (Check Engine) Light could illuminate and the vehicle could enter a “Fail-Safe” Mode (also known as “Limp-Home” Mode). If this occurs the vehicle’s power and speed will be reduced, which could inconvenience you and require immediate repair. Toyota has developed new Engine Control software logic to help prevent this condition from occurring.

    Remedy
Authorized Toyota dealerships are requested to perform a software update at NO CHARGE to the vehicle’s owner. This LSC will be available until February 28, 2016, and will only be available at an authorized Toyota Dealer.

    Campaign Date
    January 9, 2015

    Campaign Expiration Date

transmission was acting up under hard driving (fire & ems calls) had update done today it's working great more power, higher rpms in the gears than before and shifts smoother. Didn't even know about the update, took truck in complaining of transmission losing its place and not shifting right under hard driving.

I am having the opposite problem than you did. Had the update and now decreased power and funny shifting, not sure what to do. How would I show this to the dealership as a woman they most always say, I checked it and seems fine. Can they put it on the computer and tell ??

The vehicle "learns" your driving peculiarities, so to speak. The update basically deleted that memory from the engine computer and has to learn again, in time. How much time that takes, I don't know. Couple hundred miles maybe? I'd say give it a little time yet.

I may be wrong, but I dont think that should have to do with power..if anything, it'll begin to shift lower more quickly based on the driving pattern, of course.

    Thinking out loud:
Wouldn't shifting at a lower RPM, where the engine makes less power make it feel less powerful?o_O

Agreed, but would it be fair to say that the horse "power" is made up high? Semantics, I know.

    Suggestions for the OP gang?

Hp on the 5.7 tops at 4500 rpms thats before the intake goes supersonic. If you look at the dyno on he 5.7 It proves that.

With he ecm reprogrammed give it time to settle back in on shift points and rpm ranges. Give it week.

I thought it was higher than that, but I trust ya :)

I'm curious about when and a what RPMs the VVT-i does its wonderful thing, but I'm not going to hijack this thread.

Nope most stock engines around 4500 is about max. If you look at the dyno after 4500 the engine starts to lose hp and torque to do intake going or near supersonic speed. Engine cant breathe.

If my memory is correct vvt-i can lock up at 2500 or 3000 rpm. But the wide open command I believe must be present at the low rpm.
