Looking for help. To make a long story short, I didn’t do my research like I should have and picked up a complete 2005 Tundra drivetrain to put my 04 Tundra body on. Now the complete wiring harness is different so I have to do a full wiring swap. My 04 is a fully loaded limited edition with all options. I found a 2005 SR5 parts truck. The question is if the 05 SR5 wiring harness is the same as the 05 Limited wiring harness? thanks in advanced.

I mean, just the engine is massively different from '04 - '05 for the 4.7L. Wiring harnesses change in a few situations:
    • What cab type (this is huge difference)
    • What engine type
    • What transmission type
    • What drivetrain type (2WD/4WD)
There's a way Toyota tracks this with numbers, but I don't understand that system. I've never seen anyone explain it well enough for it to stick.

So, rather than go by the trim level (Base/SR5/Limited/etc.) why don't you give us more info about the bullet points above for each truck?

The 2004 body is a double cab mounted on a double cab 2005 4x4 drivetrain with 4.7L. the soon to be parts truck is a 2005 SR5 TRD double cab 4x4 with 4.7L. This is why I am hoping to find out if the wiring harness in the 05 4x4 SR5 is the same as the 05 4x4 limited. Hope this helps.

I should note that I already swapped the harness from the original 05 drivetrain donor to the 04 limited cab after I did the body swap. Everything worked but I lost all the limited options the 04 cab has because the donor truck was a base model. I am hoping the SR5 has all the extra options when I install it for my 04 limited cab.

What options are you missing? Like there wasn't a connector for them to plug into?

The base model has ness had no connectors for any of the extra options. The 04 cab has every option including TV’s in the headrest.

For the limited harness, did you confirm if it had the JBL system? That may be one place you get bitten in the ass also.

If there is anything specific you're looking for that you need ground truthing (as long as I don't have to tear shit apart) I can take a look on my 05' SR5 DC.

    I don't really know,

I am in the exact same situation as you.
I have an 04 Limited and 05 TRD both 4.7L double cabs. I am trying to salvage both trucks; been doing a lot of front engine work and my 04 is not as optioned as that.

I'll post pictures if I can find helpful ones, but I don't think you are in much luck.
Even my seats for my 04 came from an 06 and certain connectors didn't have a wire, so I think you may have to do some custom stuff.
My 05 has the JBL system and the 04 does not, I would err on the side there's a wiring harness difference.

    Best of luck.
