1st gens to Sedona 2023!!!

In my younger years, for quite a few years, I was snowboarding almost every weekend, and even some weekday evenings. Up at high altitude on a regular basis, with no problems. I was up there around 48 hours and although I was too prideful to show it, I felt like shit pretty much the entire time. When I got home and looked into it, found out ...alot really. Heading up to Flagstaff, I knew better how to handle it. Move a little slower, drink 3X the water, and double carb intake. Also that it is an acclimation process, which will pass. I was in Flagstaff for 7 days. 1st 2 were rough, day 3 was better, the rest of the time I was back to normal-feeling. I won't call anybody out, but there are a few others that were feelin it as well (you know who you are). What did I learn? It's not worth going and staying at high elevation unless you'll be there at least 4 days, or can stop and sleep once or twice during the ascend. I'm posting this because it is something I didn't know existed, and seems to be somewhat taboo, as tough guys of course are not bothered by such a thing, or allowed to talk about it anyways. I hope this helps at least one of you guys that gets sick up on the mountain like a pussy ass little bitch......JAJAJAJAJAJA!!!!!

Thanks haha. I never got sick per se, I was just drained, having some back pains, and not getting decent sleep.

Reminds me, I still need to finish Letterkenny.

I thought it was if you went higher. But, yeah, that explains why just getting dressed wore me the fuck out. I couldn't seem to rehydrate either. I drank something like 8 bottles of water a day and was still thirsty.

Well it would be worse at higher altitude. It's not entirely the elevation that gets ya, it's the rate that you go up at. If you were to go up to 12k, you'd have to stop at 8k for several days to acclimate, then continue.

Grew up in the mountains myself - had never really experienced it but had heard about it. Then spent several years living near sea level and went up hiking and had my ass handed to me. Definitely aware of the acclimation process now. 7k at “base camp” is no joke for a guy whose house is at 900ft and spends most of his days at ~200ft

Well it would be worse at higher altitude. It's not entirely the elevation that gets ya, it's the rate that you go up at. If you were to go up to 12k, you'd have to stop at 8k for several days to acclimate, then continue.

For scouts if we were going up in elevation for camp, we would try to arrive in the afternoon/evening, and then acclimate overnight while we’re sleeping
