I hope we all have good deodorant. We'll be on the road 7 days. I'll have to figure out a place to stop.

My wife calls that a whore bath when we go camping but 7 days is a long time to go without a real shower.

"Whore bath" is dousing in perfume/cologne to cover the smell. I think "Homeless bath" is more apropos with wipes.

Truth be told, you don't need soap to get clean. Doesn't Oak Creek cut through Sedona? Not sure if it's anywhere near where y'all would be, but it may be an option to hop in a creek. If she's particular about clean hair, look up dry shampoo, or if oily hair, corn starch. Or just bring a 20gal jug and do a sailor shower.

You comin' in via Flagstaff? Find that truck stop, get a shower so you'll make a wonderful first impression at camp. :)
Then freshen up with the bath wipes.

There're some good ones if you want to splurge, that are large and allow for a full body wipe-down. And get another shower on your way out, so you don't stink yourself out on the drive home.

I been looking for a shell. A few have popped up but at inopportune times and distances for me. If I find a shell, my softopper will need a new home.

This is one area where my "genetic deficiency" comes in handy. I don't sweat much, and when I do it doesn't smell. My ABCC-11 gene is non functional. I've never worn deodorant. Like, ever.

Huh. Interesting facts you learn about people on the internet that would probably never, ever come up in normal face to face conversation

Yup, I used to occasionally hitch a ride with the Rainbow Tribe when they'd pass through Ocala Nat'l forest bitd. This is ultimately what we did. Jump in a river or water hole, hand-wipe down, hop back out. didn't get you perfectly clean or feeling super fresh, but it was a hell of a lot better than festering in your own funk. You can also get your clothese pretty damn clean that way too.

There was always some anti-hippie asshole somewhere though that'd do stupid shit like kill a deer and dump it in a tributary upstream, or sink one in the watering hole once they realized the family was in town, and inevitably someone would get sick as a result. People are assholes. It kills me how big of snowflakes someone can be, claiming they want freedoms, but only for people who share their ideology.

Second the Flagstaff truck stop, Little America Travel Center. Huge clean showers and a bathtub too if that's your thing. Think it was $15, but after a week of camping and a greasy trail repair it was well worth it. You can easily sneak a SO in and get two people a shower for $15.

I'm trying to imagine how this conversation will go when I try to tell my wife she has to shower at a truck stop. Keep in mind I work for a trucking company and know things..

We do Navy showers even with our full bathroom in our trailer. This way both the wife and I can get a full shower every day with just the 42 or so gallons the trailer carries. I also usually carry a couple extra 5 gallon jugs just in case.

but i usually camp where i can be naked if i want without anyone catcalling.

And where does one get a bucket of water? It was asked a few times if there is a creek/river there but I didn't see confirmation. I'm bringing water to cook with and drink but can't imagine I'll haul enough to shower with too.

Closest water supply is the gas station a few miles from camp in Munds Park. Immediate vicinity is mainly cow pond type stuff. There's a spring you can fill 5-gal containers at along the 89A through Oak Creek Canyon (scenic pavement run).

I'm bringing a 5-gal solar shower bag and filling it right before I get to camp to supplement shower water.

I think i might skip this year and come for '24 so my truck can be ready for trails (suspension, tires, sliders, bumpers...), So i can bring my dog easier. Otherwise i feel like i'll spend most of my time just cruising around, and miss out on the shenanigans.
