    It's another camping tradition. I always bring extra ice in the trailer's freezer for mixing them up. Also bring a batch of our world famous "The Chewy" chocolate chip cookies to bake in the over while there.

    Still on the fence if the boy is coming up. If he does, it’d just be Friday night. And not sure how long I’m sticking around Saturday, though I might hit another trail before heading south.

    I wasnt gonna bring him, but i wont have to house/dog sit for him for a month at a time while they go to houston.

    maybe i'll ask him. If he gets off the BS hormone therapy, he might feel up to it.

    So, what kind of gear do you need to attend? Cause I have none. No tent, no camper, no coolers, no nothing. I don't even have a sleeping bag. Is there a taco tree out there to pick tacos off of or something?

    If you’re serious about making the trip I got an extra tent, sleeping pad, rumple blanket for ya. I’m sure someone else could hook you up with a bag. Wouldn’t worry so much about food/beverages, I’m sure there’ll be plenty to go around.

    As for the taco tree… not sure. But I have heard there may be a banana tree this year that serves margaritas:bananadance:

    Hmmn, kind of. There's usually a meal or two offered by one vendor or another, plus solo guys who are good company can sometimes time it just right and move campfire to campfire getting offers to 'join us'. But you should not plan on it. As for truck gear, everyone should carry basic recovery gear... nag, nag, nag... BUT you have a lot of friends you haven't met yet, and this event is all about getting people to play in their trucks without having to go full overlandwr-- so you can get away with a lot less truck and tool gear, and know others will have, collectively, anything you need. As long as your truck is mechanically sound, we can deal with trail breaks if they happen.

    I suggest the following personal gear, bare minimum. You gotta stay comfortable and alive:

    Tent (it's gotta have a rain fly, but can be cheap); there's a motel nearby as an alternative, but the campfire is what solidifies the trip friendships-- you've seen Dances With Wolves. After the buffalo hunt, we hafta tell the story.

    Sleeping pad or cot (for warmth, not just comfort; it's gets freaking cold at night);

    Really warm sleeping bag or several wool or down blankets; after my first trip, I bought two bags rated to 0° I've used since (I hate being cold);

    A camp chair of any kind you can make work (this can be cheap-ass);

    A bunch of clothing you can layer. It may be comfortable t-shirt weather in the daytime and gooseflesh shivering cold soon after dark. Bring at least one Really Warm jacket (or more than one) for nighttime.

    Water, even if you think you'll only drink beer. It's high elevation and dry, easy to get dehydrated. 2 gallons drinking water per person per day is the stay alive rule. The reality is, there'll be places in the area you can buy or refill water-- but show up with enough to stay hydrated and cook. Maybe extra for a sponge bath or two if you stay several days.

    Food. If you bring PB&J or whatever your favourite lazy travel or got-home-late backup is, you can count on not starving. And have it as a back-up to opportunities that come your way. Any trail runs will include at least one gas stop (it's a Tundra meet, after all) so you can easily grab convenience store crap at least once per day. There're grocery stores on the outskirts of Sedona and Flagstaff, to buy real food or to buy something good to contribute to join others for a group meal. If you bring a 1 pound propane, you can probably get invited to share others' stoves if you do want to cook but don't want to have to buy a stove. If you want to buy a "real" ice chest, I love the Lifetime brand sold at WalMart which cost far less than other comparable brands (Yeti). It's keeps ice for days and is bear rated. You could grab a cheap styrofoam cooler but you'll have to leave it at camp because off-road fun will kill it, and you'll go broke buying ice. So... if you come out alone, it may not be worth it to buy and fill a cooler for meals, then find out you could have contributed to group dinners, eaten vendor-supplied freebies, or gone out to eat. There's pizza and ice at the next off ramp, about 3 miles from camp.

    The reason I didn't just tell you, Don't worry about it, just bring your truck and it will work out is, if everyone did that, it wouldn't work out. But if everyone coming solo brings this basic personal stuff, those of us that have been looking forward to meeting you in person, really will look after you and see you have a great time.

    Edit: no matter if you bring food or hope to beg food, you must definitely bring a plate and utensils. Those, people don't usually carry extras of, to share.

    Stoked. You think you'll drive the tundra out yeah?(it is call tundras to sedona and if you show up in that gawd damn titan...... well, just don't do that). Have you talked to Jon about comin at all? It'd be cool to see him out there. And I've gotta ask, are you gonna bring Polo? I totally understand the difficulties of traveling to distant lands with a canine on board, not to mention one that's...what is he like 120 lbs. now? Regardless, now you've got a reason to finish that front bumper you haven't started building yet, eh?:boink::rofl::cheers:

    Nope, no stopping to sleep. Just drive, gas/food/drink/pee stop, driver swap, nap in passenger seat, rinse, repeat for a few thousand miles. No cocaine needed (wanted, perhaps, but not required).
