The axles are not a fixed length. They have a minimum and a maximum. They are able to extend a small amount to accommodate suspension travel.

i put the old axle in and it spins way better, like normal. but now the wheel bearing seems to have a lot of play. but it’s only a week old! i can grab the wheel anywhere (10&2, 12&6, etc) and i can shake it, it has a lot of play, but everything is bolted together tight. I can get under and see the movement is from around the axle (wheel bearing or hub) wondering if i did indeed toast my wheel bearing from driving on it with the wrong axles or what’s up. i can add a video tmr.

    Hoping for some input..
I just did wheel bearings for the second time and am positive they were installed correctly. The wheel bearings are oem. Also installed a new axle from Toyota oem with the pink stickers.
After putting the new axle one the one side, the wheel will not spin when the axle nut is torqued. I have been tightening to 170 ft/lbs.
The axle will spin when I use my hand to spin the rotor when the axle nut is loose, however once I tighten it, it will not spin at all.
The other side has an unknown axle on it and is not oem, but it's the one that's been on the truck since I bought it, and that side spins fine with everything tight.
What am I missing!!?? I am not going to drive it till I figure it out because I am worried It will blow up the brand new wheel bearing for the second time.
