Well, I'm the dumbest person alive. I was so focused on the complicated shit I didn't stop and think about the simple shit. It's my fuel pump. The dude noticed the fuel pump dropped off a lot, which would've hurt but the S/C was only putting out about 2lbs of boost. He said the belt is slipping pretty good.

Now, this was off the log I saved in August, before the pulleys got replaced. He noticed a lot of dips and spikes on some logs that the ECU saved itself. 100% throttle and the afr would go super rich, even with the fuel pressure bottoming.

We verified that the ecu is telling the pump to turn on in the i/o page by resetting the ecu. The output would go 100% for a few seconds and the fuel pressure stayed the same.

So I'm pretty sure I've been running around in a lightly modified Vic with a manual and 3.73 gears. I need to replace the fuel pump and pull the injectors to get them cleaned and flow tested. I'll go ahead and throw some new plugs in too. After that, I'm gonna get some logs and send them back and we can go from there. He also got a name from a fb post 5 years ago from the company that put the ECU in and called the haltech sales rep to se if we can get the password. If not, we get to start over eventually.

I'm pretty excited to gfinally get some help to get this bitch running again and running right. Also, the dudes shop is in lake Havasu AZ, just north of Parker, last year's T2S. I thought that was funny.

Oh, and the o2 sensors came right out. I gave them a stern look and they fell out. The new ones had a dab of anti seize already on them.

    Get a high-flow Walbro

Did he give any thoughts about pressure regulation, if you need to swap out the FPRs to supply more fuel, or are the stock regulator(s) good enough?

That's why I gave the fourth gen T4R a pass, because 2uz. Plus I wanted one so bad when they came out. I put the cover and the center fold from that issue of Car and Driver on my wall. Sometimes I kick myself for buying a second 1GT instead of a v8 T4R

4G4R with an FJ t case is amazing. My buddy has one and that chassis really benefits from it. Only downside is the weak 8.0 rear end. V8 4r literally ruined my TRD Pro 5G experience. I traded into my 2.5G after 5 months of ownership LOL.

I’ve heard replacing the exhaust manifold is a nightmare on those v8 4Rs. Supposedly less space to get it done than our trucks.

It should have an upgraded pump in it, so I'll pull it to get a part number. But, dude said it had bigger sway bars in it. When I got under there the bar had a fomoco sticker and looked like it had been shifting around in the worn bushing. Fishy.

He didn't say anything about the fpr, and I don't remember seeing one. I'll get some better pics and info when I pull the injectors tomorrow.

Edit: 100% on the walboro. I was looking for in the tank ones, but it stops at 2004. I asked on the Vic page.

In non-vic news, the JATC(union apprentic school) has asked me a few times to be an instructor. My boss came and asked me again as they just lost 2 instructors. I said fuck it and went to talk to the guy. I took the job as the hands on instructor for all years. I'll teach pipe bending, wiring circuits, motor controls, transformer wiring, all that good shit in the lab. Might as well put the masters license to good use. I still don't feel qualified for the job though. I start on Tuesday.

That's one of the parts of the jobs I loved, was teaching how to do shit. I relinquished most of that to my working foreman when I took the non working foreman job. Now I just do paperwork and talk shit on the FB tundra pages.

Order is finally in for the new tailgate handle.

I also bought those upgraded hardware clips to replace while I'm in there.

One of the best upgrades I’ve done. My clips were all solid but I did lube everything up good while that cover was off.

Congrats man! Teaching is a blast (most of the time). And in your line of work - you’re saving lives teaching people how to handle electrons properly without getting toasted.

On another note, I’m trying to limp my VC gaskets to the finish line at my next oil change. Do we know the volume of oil it takes to get from the min dot to the max dot on the dipstick? I need to add some…

I believe it’s a quart but I’d play it safe and do 1/2 quart at a time.

Owners manual actually says 1.6 quarts, but as @Jack McCarthy said, better to start at half a quart, see what that looks like and go from there, particularly as my manual is for the 2006, which is VVTI version of the 4.7, so may be slightly different.

    Bmf 1 : fuel pump 2

Got the fuel pump out. It only took about 1/2 an hour, but I bet I could do it in 15 minutes next time.

Looking up at the fuel tank.
    KIMG20250214_133830719.jpg

Looking over the axle at the fuel tank. Notice the billet watts link. Mmmmm.
    KIMG20250214_133843301.jpg

This one got the fuel pump 1 point. Stupid wires didn't have a connector.

    KIMG20250214_141342984.jpg

I think I found the problem. Kinda hard to see, but there's a piece of rubber sticking out.
    KIMG20250214_144019035.jpg

I pulled the rubber out and hooked the pump to the battery. No joy, pump is locked up. Turns out the pump is a Walboro 450Lph E85 pump. $106 on summit racing. I'm gonna pull the injectors and plugs tomorrow. @JakeJake found me a guy in town who can clean and flow test them. With any luck Donut will be back on the street next weekend getting some more logs. Tuner guy said don't replace the belt until we get some good, recent logs read to see what it's doing. I'll drop a link to his page just in case anybody needs it, and because he was the only one to help me after months of asking.

    https://snpspeed.com/

Oh, and the 2nd point the fuel pump got was for dumping fuel all over me. Piece of shit fuel pump. Fuck that thing.
