Those V70 Rs are awesome. I'd love to have one, but they're pricey for good ones.

A good way to check the current value on your vehicle is with 2 different websites.
    1) Kelley Blue Book
    2) NADA guides

To top on what Shifty said, Carmax is a good choice as well. You can get a pre-quote on their website but it's a grain of salt estimate as like Shifty said, they will nickle and dime you. I was able to sell mu 21 Tacoma to them in 2022 for $4,000 more than I financed it for. Turned around and put 2k of it into preventative maintenance in this 98 Camry and have been rocking it as my daily driver ever since.

Honda is gonna be a good choice if you’re looking for something that higher mileage but still unbelievable reliable. Anything with a k-series motor will last damn well near forever, the parts are very available and are not too expensive. They’re easy to work on/DIY and come with all the modern creature comforts/ features.

Im currently sitting on a element SC 5spd (needs motor refresh since it’s been sitting cause trans needs to be looked at something broke not allowing me to go into gear and I just gave up on it cause I enjoyed driving the truck so much) and a CRV that’s mint minus some cosmetic things but has 200k and runs like a champ.

yea I got a shitty tube thing too. I mean it gets the job done but if you’re hooning around and making that rack/PS pump work. Something with fins would definitely be a better option. Those are kinda light duty and I wouldn’t recommend for off-road use. For something a little more rugged, I’d look into what that truck had that you pointed out.

@Tundra2 Just don't buy the wife a Navigator. Just put new tires on this morning to the tune of $1700! Not to mention 22 inch wheels help it to ride like complete and utter shit.

I helped two good friends of mine purchase cheap, reliable, safe used cars recently. There are lots of deals out there. When they asked me what kind of car they should buy, I straight up said "you are going to buy a 5-20 year old Honda or Toyota, period." Sticking to that rule really helped us out. I would recommend doing the same.

There is honestly a stunning amount of sub-$4k cars on marketplace that would be safe buys. We believe in you!

I'd like to do this. I've purchased a new-used OEM pump because mine is on it's last legs. The dipstick in my reservoir is all melted because the fluid has gotten so hot. It had been run low long before I got the truck, but one time I was doing a lot of hooning in the snow and the pump started getting really loud. The lines and reservoir were way too hot to touch.

Being an 00, I don't think mine has the "cooler" that the later trucks do. I figure if the fluid can get that hot in below-freezing temps then it's probably pretty easy to overheat it in the summertime. Where would you put it? Can the lines be long enough to stick it in front of the condenser?

Quick fix is to swap it with the low ‘L’ gear bulb but if you’re OCD about it, it may be best to buy a new one.

Not entirely sure where the 00’ lines would be but mine is right here in front of the radiator/ac condensor. It’s a pretty simple unplug/plug in. I couldn’t imagine it being that much more difficult on your truck. You’ll just have to figure out a decent mounting place and extend/make hoses as necessary

Thanks, there is a thread for everything.

I have a ton of bulbs for this ready to go. I think I’m going white and no green but I do have some condoms too IIRC. Guess this is good incentive to do this sooner rather than later. Maybe try to get the RS3000 antenna up the pillar too for better range.

Let’s hope it’s a chill day at work.

Even with white LEDs, the gear indicator is still green. The color for those is on the cluster itself.

    Thanks, cool tidbit.

for the speedo and tech, consensus is white wins? Or blue is also liked? Or split and some like the green?

I thought that was only for the newer first gens? My drive bulb had a green rubber condom over it.

Unless I'm confusing this with another one I swapped. I know the clusters changed at some point because some people chose to sand theirs down.

This is for the older first gens. My original bulbs had the green condom too, but the cluster still has color on it.

My ‘D’ light is out too, since this has come up now I’m looking for the bulb; the incandescent replacement is pretty expensive (best I can find is like $30+ for 1), but I could get a pack of LEDs for less, I don’t really want to switch to LEDs, but would there be any problem switching just one of the gear indicator lights to an LED?
I’m thinking I could do what @Jack McCarthy suggested and swap the ‘L’ bulb to the ‘D’ location and stick the LED in the ‘L’ location (which rarely sees use, but I don’t want burned out). I can’t think of any reason this shouldn’t work, but LEDs can do funny things.

I like the green, personally. I think that the white is almost too bright at night. It's not like I have a choice in the matter since mine is soldered into the cluster so I'm glad that I do like it.

Yeah, it’s like $12 on Amazon.com, best I can find, but I’m in Canada, so they want like $15 for shipping and duties, with the exchange rate it’s like $36 :-(

You should ship it to an Amazon locker just over the border and pick it up next time you’re in the area unless you’re way up North in BC.
