I’ve done it forwards and backwards about 3 round trips. I will personally procure the connector and plug the vacant hole and ship for free to anyone who asks. I can even include the pinout. It’s so easy a caveman could do it. S, I can even mail out a flathead screwdriver and a return envelope.

I’d even make a pnp adapter harness but I find the extra bulk distasteful.

Is the 150A made for a Sequoia? They still list those on their website so they haven't been discontinued yet.

Yes, Sequoia used the 150a alt. Rockauto still has it in stock

According to the member that made that thread you have to replace the cables too. Is that not accurate?

I swear Noah found the parts to bolt the third ear on. I didn’t do my install so I don’t know the options well but grinding off an ear is a one time problem.

Denso still has the 130a alt on their website but only listed under Sequoia and not Tundra.

Not required. Recommended. My cables are in a bin with the 10000 other mods I need to do.

    Great discourse about the alts...

Leads me to ask, what parts are necessary to be able to change out a starter? Any special tools necessary?

I did swap to a 140 amp fuse for the alternator. But only because I blew up my 100 by forgetting to disconnect the battery before f’ing around with the alternator lead.

The plan…pre-deform the bushings and hope they’ll stay partially compressed to later fit it in the shock tower.

Doesn't seem as quick and easy as you said then. Why do I need a 150A alternator? I'm not converting my Tundra to a food truck.

If you can get a 400w solar panel for the same price and quality as a 300w, which do you buy?

Gone and gone. I'll likely just use the link Denso sent me unless I hear back from Rock Auto by tomorrow.

McGeorge shows them available for purchase at a higher price but I'm assuming that may not be accurate. I would not be surprised if they couldn't fulfill the order.

I stand by quick and easy for the extra work needed to go 150. Maybe cut off an ear and definitely re-pin a harness. Much less time than the wrenching required to replace it. Then you have 50% more for the same price.

Big 3 is worth doing regardless of alternator selection but also isn’t critical and doesn’t need to be done at the same time. It’s worthwhile and nice to have.

I would need to buy a tool to cut that ear off. Not opposed to that. Not sure what tool would be the best choice.

    Grinder, possibly dremel.

But I think Noah’s crack thread may have part numbers for a missing bolt which would allow using the ear. It’s unclear to me why it must be cut off. Still, pretty straightforward to do so with any form of cutting wheel.

I hear ya. Thinking about ordering the rebuilt units because I will travel to ID from GA this fall. I can wrench ifna I have the parts. We rode over 500 miles in the back country last year. The boy scout in me wants to be prepared...

Looks like it's the big 3 + sequoia alternator thread, even easier to find, good job finding that.

I *think* he lopped off the ear b/c the parts weren't complete prior to lopping but man it's not always clear to me what that Noah mofo is talking about :) :) :) My mom spoke the language, hailing from Mt. Airy, NC, but sometimes the words just go through my eyes and don't imprint on my thick skull :)

FWIW, my 130A is Denso p/n 210-1065 and it's still available. Same work, but 130A versus 150A: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=11195357&jsn=272

Yup. There's a foreskin running the job with his crew, and I'm just a warm body. A seat filler. A foreskin with no job right now. The apprenti handle the work so I just give guidance when needed.
