New Series 4 watch will do an FDA approved EKG and let you know if you have a heart problem. It also has a “I’ve fallen and can’t get up” automatic calling feature. Looks like they geared 2 birds, the fitness fanatic and the old.

Surprised that Apple is sticking with the lightning cable and paying the fines.

Maybe that's why it's $1400. They're passing those fines onto their customers.

I just paid $900 for the G9 and what really worries me is you cannot change the battery's anymore, when the battery starts dying in 2 years I will have to buy another phone, so I have decided from this point on to buy nothing but the cheapest smart phones (like my old HTC)

So it’s flip phones, then touchscreen smart phones, then too-big-to-carry tablet phones, and finally they are going to flexible pads with flip-out wings on the sides. Hmmm.

I left my (jailbroken) iphone 4s to switch to Samsung and will never go back. It wasn't the iphone itself I didn't like, it was having to put up with all of Apples bullshit that annoyed me. I'm eying the new Note 9 (the cheaper one of the two) but not at that price. I'll rock my s7 edge a little while longer.

I’m jb’d on X. It’s maddening that stock iPhone doesn’t have 5 icons across and Location toggle in Control Center. The other thing I enjoy is instant On with face detection, no swiping up. I was skeptical about FaceID at first but I won’t go back to a button. FaceID also instantly logs me into any app or site I’ve input a username/password that typically auto logs me out, mainly banking/shopping, not forums that have me in perpetually.

.. this was about eight yrs ago and the only way you could get an apple I'd is by giving your credit card/debit card.. And the only way to activate the phone was with an apple I'd... The lady at radio shack added the plan with the carrier but then I had to call Apple setup the phone with them before I could use it. My understanding is you can't buy anything from the Apple store without them having a bank account or credit card debit card.. And there's very little Apple gives away for free..I knew someone who paid $30 for the Apple headphones and was bragging how cheap she got them.. It just happened I stopped at the dollar store and pick up the exact same pair.. And guess how much I paid.. They worked well with my Android phone..

Again, you don’t have to give your CC number if you don’t want to. Been a customer since early iPhone4. Well even before that. I’m not sure why it’s a big deal anyway? Do people not do online shopping anymore?
Apple Pay is pretty bad ass if you ever have used it.

I currently have over 4 pages of apps on my iphone, haven’t paid for one of them.

I would use any phone operating system personally. The Samsung S9 has my interest. Over the years we have bounced back between Samsung, Apple, and LG. Guess switching operating systems is easy for me (probably due to my career).

I have no credit cards linked to iTunes and I have in-app purchases locked off on everyone's iPhone. I'll link it temporarily if I need to. I do have Apple Pay linked (different) and it's super convenient especially if I forget my wallet. It's actually faster with an X than any other method if we count all the steps since the phone is in my hands in line, and my face is already authenticated before I hover it over the reader. No CC to pull out of my wallet even though I still do that most of the time. I can see myself abandoning that method more and more. When Apple Pay first came out, it was clunky using the button and slow to process, not many vendors were on board. It's quick like tapping a card now.

The prices for Iphones and Androids are technically just the hardware cost. As in, that price doesnt include the operating system.

That was one of the biggest issues with Microsoft's Windows phones. But in hindsight the reasons might appleal to alot of people now.

Android (google) and Apple eat the cost of the operating system. More so google though cause they basically give a vanilla version of the latest O.S. (like the old nexus ones) to the manufacturers.

I know what y'all are thinking. "What about all the starving google employees"? Well before anyone hires Sally Struthers theres no starving google employees (interns are a different story). No company gives anything away for free ofcourse, and definitely not a multi million dollar O.S.

Google gets its check from the ad/marketing/consumer products folks. Google is selling them the resourses to advertise more efficiently to its users. That is googles real business and product. Android phones are just an awesome way to mine all that data about us.

That was the big difference with a windows phone. In its price tag the cost of the o.s. were included. Which was probably $150-$200 (?) Of software instead of hardware. But m.s. got what they were asking for up front when the phone was bought. So no need for them to data mine everyones browsing habbits and such.

Me personally, i dont care at all. Google can have their profile they are maintaining on me. There were plenty of companies that were already doing the same thing, just less effectively.....

    /rant

I am using a rather cheap $70 droid currently. That is until i finish rebuilding my galaxy s5. It is literally custom built. I have a custom boot loader (twrp), rooted, debloated, and i get the lastest operating system about a month or so after its official release with dedicated development. The S5 specs are still legit compared to almost all the non flagship models, like the mid to highish level droids.

To bad the new bluetooth versions are hardware dependent.

My friend does that, annually since 3G, nothing wrong with what makes you happy. Not everyone is into the latest gadget or an Apple user. Did you pick up cases or screen protectors? I got a Spigen Air Hybrid clear one for now, and the shield with the black border, glass covering the whole screen including the notch.
