$1400 Iphone? Are they insane, or are we

The new iPhone.. it comes in the nice finish, and the kid/toy version. Toy one is almost a grand after tax. The nice one is over $1500 after tax. WTH. I purposely didn’t upgrade at the X. It was a $400 increase in price. Maybe the google phone will be more competitively priced. This is ridiculous.

 

Someone out there will pay it, and someone on here will get it

 

It is crazy money for sure. I have been looking at the new note 9 the nice one is almost $1,300.00 dollars. And boy do I like my old phone again after that price check. lol

 

But... you can get one FREE with a big monthly plan and a commitment longer than a hollywood marriage.

 

Idk depthfinders for my bass boat were $3,200 for the console unit and $1k for the bow two years ago. Now their outdated and equal replacements would be quite a bit higher and they all have less technology than my old iPhone 3.

 

Like any product, they’re going to charge what the market will bear. You can’t blame them for charging so much if people will pay it.
Any item is worth what people will pay.

Which is a great point. Wait a year and buy last years “best” for a discount.

 

I have the X. Now that I have it I could not go back to having a home button.

 

After the initial launch those iPhones will appear on ebay and sell for a lot more.

 

This makes the $650 I paid for my Pixel 2 look like a steal.

I have no doubt people will buy but at that price there are a lot of year old phones that will get the job done just as well for less than half the price.

 

To sum it up for me...........................

 

Definitely don’t have to buy it. I’ve paid $1500 for a computer before and I didn’t carry my desktop around all day every day in my pocket and schedule my life with it.

 

The sheep will still spend the night waiting in line to buy the new iPhone no matter the price. I'm not trendy enough to have an iPhone. My pixel 2 XL does everything I need. But I do have a bunch of Apple stock, so I hope the sheep are out buying it.

 

I liked the button so I stayed with the Iphone 8 Red

 

i haven't gotten a new phone in close to 5 years. there's been absolutely zero reason to upgrade. i've seriously considered, several times, going back to a motorola razr just to reduce the noise in my life.

if it ever comes time to upgrade, i'd probably spring for red's hydrogen.

 

I’ve talked with a few people and like a car purchase, they fixated on the monthly payment. They rationalize it by saying, well it’s your phone, you do everything on it... to which I respond, “ I don’t do everything on my phone, and for that kind of money, I should be able to. L O S T.
I considered a pixel 3, but am told the price will match apple for the most part.. We will see how long my hang on.

OnePlus all the way. Been rocking it for 5 years.

Apple has been written to have one of the best advertisement department in the world. They have taught the world that non replaceable batteries on a smart phone is ok, headphone jacks are useless, and now $1500 for a phone is justifiable. But like many have said, there will always be the few that need to be different no matter the cost. All my Apple friends are brainwashed and will buy anything Apple. No disrespect to anyone on here I use both platforms for computers since I do design and pc for work. I'll admit if you do anything that is design related for the industry than apple is the way to go for computers but as far as phones, I'll never rock anything but a OnePlus.

Just my opinion FWIW.

All my wife's family are diehard apple, when they see my phone they all think its nicer. I was comparing pics on vacation with an iPhone x and mine looked nicer every time, especially at night. Plus I have a big ass memory card so I won't ever get that "not enough space for photos" bullshit. They're funny fuckers charging $100 more for every gig update, 32 vs 64 when a 128 gig card can be slapped in mine for $50. They lost touch with innovation when Steve died.

I bought my S9 on a 2 for 1 sale at $800, sold the other to a coworker for $400. Can't beat that.

 

It's known as a flagship killer Bree. All the great specs of a flagship phone but with less of a markup. Given their phones have gradually come up in price since their inception (I still have my OnePlus one) they truly are worth their design. You have to switch to Android though.

Think of it like the $80k pickup trucks out there, they will increase the price because they know people will buy them. Even if they are owing it for half of their lives....

Just FYI. I have the OnePlus 3T and love it. Can't break this thing. Camera is phenomenal. Will upgrade to the latest and greatest when this dies. My original OnePlus one I use as a backup which is never. Solid phone. My wife has an iPhone so I have to know both OS to help her out.
