What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Added some power distribution in the cab. Set it up to only be hot with the ignition on by using a continuous duty solenoid after a breaker/disconnect. I used a 6 port fuse box with a ground bus. In addition, I added dual qc usb ports inside the console and a dual usb port for the rear seat (may add another). Used #6 wire from the battery to the fuse box. I need to clean it up some, but it's more or less done.

 

1 down, 3 more to go. Custom door handle bling to match the custom floor mat bling.

 

I just finished, tried banging out during Giants halftime, unfortunately didnt realize he sent me 2 different sets so had to remove 2 and essentially placed on perfectly 6, got done 4 minutes left in 4th, damnit lol.



And 1 more showing off all that sexy amber coming off the front. Everyone says theres no mistaking my truck coming down the road. I've had people stop in the middle of the road in pitch black knowing it was me lol.

@mgm16trdpro could you show where/how you mounted the rear footwell LEDs? Light throw looks great and mine are either too far under the seat or keep falling off.

 

Tnx. The things I do for u guys. U got me crawling in the back of my truck with the doors shut and camera flash on lol. It's so hard to show but I tried my best. U can kinda make it out. On both seats theres a circular tab under it, on 1 side it's white, other its black. I've had the same problem as you with just about every strip but under the drivers front dash has come off once. So my fix, least for now is I've put gorilla tape on the ends of each strip. So far it's holding but when I just went under there the 1 side looks like it starting to pull off. Trust me I know what u mean about it being hard to find a spot. But if u go just behind toward the front of both those tabs theres a thin line of plastic under there. I've found that's the best place to mount them. I just need to find a more permanent solution to keep them there like u.

Hope these help because they weren't exactly easy to get.

Lol I feel your pain. me and about 187 mosquitos were doing that the other night. Thanks for the pics. I’ll give that a try and post up if I come up with something more permanent.

 

Alex I can tell u this, as far as the mounting location for the light throw it's perfect. It's also the only spot that's teally even an option under there. It's flat, hard, and plastic. Besides that theres wires, carpet, and foam everywhere else. So I can tell you it's the best spot for both output and for it to hold. The only thing that can use some improvement is instead of gorilla tape, theres got to be a better solution to having it remain in place better, yet still be able to be removed if for some reason the strip goes dead and needs replacing.

Anybody got a better, less likely to fall off solution than gorilla tape, but it can't be permanent in case it needs to be replaced? I got a ton of ideas I thought about for a permanent hold, but I'm hesitant to do so in case the strip goes dead. Anybody?

 

See as simple as that idea is I just didn't really consider yet. I'm not sure if they can get in there around that plastic strip but if the can that might be perfect. Tnx Ron and that's why this site is invaluable. I think I'm going to try that now.

 

Zip tie them that's exactly. What I did. Feed it up and behind the support bars. I

No problem sir. what are you running for the amber running lights?

 

Just stock but down the road might go vled Triton. Just haven't decided yet if keeping the pro lights or going to go with +18 LEDs or something else yet. The BD s8 lightbar actually throws off a decent amount of amber. So just between the amber stock daytime running lights plus side markers plus the s8 amber backlight theres quite a bit of amber during the morning, day and dusk. If I knew I was definitely keeping the stock pro headlights I'd get the Triton, I'm just not sure yet plus got other more important things I want to do first. Between the H R kit, bd fogs, and bd light bar, I have way more than enough light that I need right now. If anything I'd look to get further long distance like a LP9 before anything else right now.

 

Hey Alex use my spot and take the advice of Ron and Rich. They were right. I just threw a total of 4 zip ties right around my gorilla tape for a little extra cushion between the wires and zip ties. It worked perfect. 1 zip tie on each side of led strip.

There u have it Alex. Great advice from 3 great guys. Take the spot I showed u in pic and use zip ties around that plastic bar I showed u in pic. Don't forget the next time someone asks u a question to pay the help forward.

 

I was going to try some 3m tape and sticking the strip to magnets that would grab through the carpetish flap under the seat onto another magnet placed on the inside, but zip ties seems like a no-brainer. Thanks y’all.

 

I put mine on with heavy duty velcro and backed that up with a few zip ties, same locations as @mgm16trdpro

 

I'm not saying yours is a bad idea or wouldn't work. I do however think it's probably a bit more involved, not quite as simple and effective as just slapping a couple zip ties around it. I didn't think there was enough room to get anything between that white plastic strip I showed u in pic and the bottom of the foam seat cushion. However, after their simple and effective idea, I went out and tried it, I'd say within 5-10 minutes I was done with it and very confident I won't have to crawl back under there again like I've done a time or 2 on each strip over the past year or so. Assuming my led strips stay working I think I can forget about having to do anything else for them for a long time. The throw and location is perfect and so is the zip tie idea. Like you I immediately went into over thinking it and looked right past such a simple and effective solution. Go for it as we suggested, I'm confident u will be happy with it. Then take the time, energy, and money u save doing it this way and put that toward another nice addition to your ride. Good luck and take care.

 

Yeah not sure why I didn’t think to use zip ties already, considering I ziptied the wiring in place. got caught up over-engineering again.... thanks for the suggestions guys. Sounds like a winner.

 

Same here, I have a tendency to get creative and overthink things sometimes. It works great some of the time and I come out ahead, other times, like this, it backfires and I either spend a bunch of additional time or energy over what's necessary to get the job done and move on. As I get older and keep adding additional responsibilities to my life I'm really starting to appreciate the simple and effective solutions. Unfortunately my mind has yet to accept that thinking. Maybe 1 day I'll learn.

This plug is half the price of the Putco one. I just ordered it on Amazon for $28
I may have to tap the reverse light wire but for half the price, I can do that.
