Any idea if the 2018 key/fob combo can be programmed to work on a 2017? Tired of having a separate key and fob, and not really wanting an ebay special... I have techstream.

Unfortunately the 2017 key/fob will not work with the 2018. 2017 has a “g” transponder and 2018 has”h” transponder. Take a look at this post.

Of course they wouldn't make it that easy by keeping the transponder frequency the same...

Little bit off topic but since we talking keys.

Are there H-Keys available without the built in remote (just a plain key with H-transponder/chip) that can be programmed to my 2018 Tundra? Reason is that I finally ordered me a remote start which comes with tw-way remotes I want to use and I really don't want the big key then since I can't open the doors with it after remotely starting the truck.

    Thanks.

I absolutely can't stand the combo key/fob on the '18s.

I really don't mind it but it will be rendered useless when I use the remote start.

I feel like the stabby key is always at the ready to stab something. My leg, the pain on my door, my leather seat, you name it.

My 4Runner all in one fob is a G code key. I read a post on here that someone was able to buy a 4Runner blank and get it cut and programmed for their Tundra. It would be nice to have one less thing on my keys.

I am sure the 4Runner G-Key will allow to start your truck once it is programed. Question is if the remote part has the same frequency as the Tundra. Maybe your dealer can answer that and knows how to program it.

Bumping this to the top, anyone have anymore info on 2017 and earlier Key/Fob integration? Trying to keep my keyring bulk to a minimum.
