Hello, a buddy of mine had mentioned to me that the 2018 Tundra will have the all in one key fob, have any of you heard of it possibly working with previous year models (3rd gen at least)?

I had messaged Roman about it and he doubts it could, would be nice to have that option.

    Thanks!

I noticed a few people talking about this online but have not verified it. It would make sense to get out of the dark ages. :)

I have called a few different parts counters and it seems they are not sure. Most don't even know the 2018 have this yet.

    None, yet....
what do you mean by all in one key fob? As in like key and buttons on one? Pretty sure 18 Tundra has smart key.

I can probably check if you want me to...

I don't think it's a smart key as there is not a push to start that I can see. I am assuming they finally made the fob and key 1 item like other Toyota models.

If you can check on your side that would be great.

No smart key. It's just the key and fob in one part.

Only way to find out is to try and program one to an older model and see if it will work.

That is about what I expected on it's cost. Not to bad if it works on my 2017 :)

I do not, but I can order one in and check. It is only used on the 2018 Tundra, which is why we don't have any in stock.

If you can that would be very helpful. Now all we need is to find a Technician that can see if the techstream app can program it. If it does work I would think a large amount of the new keys could be sold.

It's such a nice thing, the all in one. Had it on the Camry and Corolla.

That's what I was going to ask as well. My 2nd Gen has a G key code.
I'm not sure I'd want to "upgrade" to this though. It seems like if you added other keys on a ring with this, it would be awkward/uncomfortable in your pocket.:notsure:

You just use a larger loop for your key ring. It's much nicer not having to have the extra fob.

Here's a picture of the new key. It has an "H" on the key.

My other car is a 4Runner and has the all in one key/fob. It's really not bad to have in your pocket. Less bulk than we have now.

I am assuming that it won't work in a 17 as the 17 and earlier have a G on the key. Thanks for the pic...

I will say this about the key:

    00-06 $7
    07-17 $29 + programming
    18+ $168 + programming
Typical smart key $252 + $94 laser cut key + programming

But hey, at least you can push a button to start your truck. :D

I've had the all in one for over two years now. Bought it on eBay and had the dealer program it.

How much did the dealer charge to program it?

Thanks for the info. I've seen posts about the program that we can use to modify all the different options on our trucks (key coding included) on another forum.. but I'm not that tech savvy.
There's a few options for keys I've seen such as the older VW style flip out. I thought that may be a neat one too.
