What did you have to do to get those to fit?

if I recall, the general consensus is they "fit", as in, they're fine as long as you don't turn or hit any bumps. i.e. they rub the shit out of everything, and will eat the hell out of the tires and your plastics at every pothole or speed bump. Be prepared to replace tires unless you drive everywhere without turning.

But that member hasn't registered a login here since 2023, so they may not say. What I can tell you is, I don't believe there's a person in all my years here on this forum that's been able to cleanly tuck 35s without damage to truck and tires unless they cut into the firewall.

If you really want to run 35s like that, you really need to read the "Suspension, wheel and tires..." section of this thread so you understand what you're up against: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

That community-managed thread essentially contains a decade of collective 1st Gen Tundra experience in the first two replies. It is there to help newbies avoid really stupid mistakes, because the rest of us already did it for you, to save you the $$ and pain.

tl;dr - It's no small feat to run 35s, and there are several substantial consequences which aren't liited to rubbing/damage if you really feel like you need 35s for some reason.

    I have 295/75r16
    They're basically a 33.5"x11.5" tire.

I need to turn the wheels and torque the inner rear most LBJ bolt on each side to 90ft lbs, get a shorter 19mm 1/2" drive socket (and possibly a shorter torque wrench) to torque the center steering rack bolt to 122ft lbs, find a second set of hands to torque the two rear cam bolts to 96ft lbs, and adjust the toe. I'be been doing what I can when I can. But not having a helper is making go it slow. Still making strides. Hoping to take the truck to Juan at Toy Lex for the fine adjustments this week.
I'll bring two 35" tires mounted on wheels on the tenth, we can play with if we have time, after doing your and my springs. But I don't plan to do the body lift until sometime after Jambo.

Been thinking about getting these tires but fear the will be so narrow and stuck inside the fender flares. Any other shots of this truck?

    Weird, @lsaami didn't include a 32.5" option (275/70r17)

So I can't update my vote to the correct size.

My truck. I suspect the rims are what came on it (and need work, obviously).

    P265/70/R17

So I think my running tires are a bit bigger than what she came with.

The "65" on my spare tire.....if I replaced all of my tires with P265/65/R17's....how much of a height change would that have?

Conversely if I replaced my spare with a P265/70/R17----it would fit under the bed fine, right?

About an inch difference. The larger size would fit as your spare.

Wow! You guys know all the cool things! :)

How big of a problem would running that spare cause being one is less in diameter?

After fixing three flat tires last week I'm expecting more trouble!

(Changed one tire and plugged another for a disabled motorist I met July 4 and a few days later plugged one of my trailer tires).

That smaller spare wouldn't be ideal. Would be ok to get you to the tire shop at in-town speeds.

That's what I was thinking. Will try to replace it before long.

What do you think an unused tire, that spent its 19 years under a bed, is worth on the second-hand market? I'll try and sell it.

Honestly, I think 265/70r17 really hits the sweet spot for these trucks for mixed on-road/off-road use.

You get an inch of height over OEM, but with roughly the same width. If you go with an aggressive tread, you may get a little more than an inch. They're the same width, and they're less than 1.5" taller, so you shouldn't really rub much (if at all), even with stock alignment numbers. And when levelling the truck, the larger tire size makes your wheel/tire combo look far less emaciated.

Leveling kit in the near future.

Scares me every time someone says, "leveling kit" on here. I'm always concerned they're going to make the mistake of buying strut spacers, or the garbage Rough Country sells, which is often advertised as "leveling kit".

Kinda new to trucks in general, was going to take it to a reputable shop and have it done. Any advice on what I should be avoiding?

Oh, and here's something I posted elsewhere that shows how it's virtually impossible to visually tell the difference between 32.5" (275/70r17) and 33" (285/70r17) from 10ft away. Reposting here for posterity, since people seem to be convinced they "must go 33 or GTFO".

Not apples-to-apples angles here, but here's 285/75r17 (32.9") versus 275/75r17 (32.5") on the same truck, same wheels, same lift. You'd see a slight width difference from behind, but honestly, that half inch (er, quarter inch top & bottom) of added tire diameter is negligible to me, visually.

    Wildpeak AT3W in 285:

Mickey Baja Legend EXP in 275:

    Another angle with 285/70r17.

    And again with 275/70r17.

Get a quote from the shop before you get any work done, then run it by us over here. We can tell you if it's shit or not. Generally speaking though, that section is years of this forums' knowledge, condensed into about 2 dozen bullet points, and will help you avoid bullshit.
