The plastic clips on my hood bulge have broken and now when I am driving down the road either in strong winds, I live in Kansas so it is every day it seems, or passing a semi and the air hits the front of my Tundra, it pops it out of place. I have tried to do the plastic JB Weld compound with new clips and it worked for a short amount of time. The compound broke off the bulge and I am back in the same spot. I have tried to look online for replacements but all I am getting are covers. I want to either replace the entirety of the hood bulge, black bulges would be preferred, trying to do a chrome delete but am open to just keeping the chrome, or come up with a new way to permanently fix the issue. I have looked and there is no way to get to the inside of the hood to replace the clips with bolts. Any help is appreciated!!

Hard to tell if you have now damaged your bulge or if it's still in original shape minus the clips.

Lots of us have had this issue, and replaced the black push clips with these. Resolved the issue and have held up great.

Here are the clips I used that are holding much better than the stock ones that came in my bulge.

Thanks man!! I have replaced the push clips with just the black OEM ones when I tried to fix the pieces on the bulge that you mount these to. I can replace the clips all day, the issue is that the "holders" on the bulge are broken.

Once you get a new bulge, probably wouldn't hurt to jump straight to the grean/teal clips I linked.

Yeah, that is what I will do! Do you know what is different about them? Are they just a better material and hold better?

Those green clips and JB Weld fixed mine and I just drove through a 40mph head wind at 70mph and it stayed solid.

    :notsure:

Not really sure. The look the same minus the color but they work when the oem black ones didn't. Probably a slightly different plastic and maybe a hair larger. It's still easy to install and remove the bulge if needed but I'm going a few years with these new push pins and have had zero issue. For the price, definitely recommend for piece of mind.

You live in Kansas too? lmao But it is nice hearing another person say they recommend the green clips! I am scared that one day the damn thing will just break off or snap in half. I love my Tundra but wowza isn't that a design flaw!

Regardless, I am gonna have to get a new bulge. I have JB welded once and broke again so the holders are shot and broken. Thank you for this information!

Replaced mine last week because the winds were popping it out of place.
    Hasn't popped out since.
    I've tried them both.
For me, the green ones seem to leave more of a gap between the hood and the bulge.

I'm on my 2nd hood bulge on my 2014.
One end of the speednut bracket broke on mine.
I tried glues, epoxies, JB Weld, etc, but nothing would hold it.
If you replace the hood bulge just finger tighten those bolts with a socket and give it maybe another 1/4 turn.

Not bulge related but since we're talking clips and retainers, does anybody have a link or part# for the plastic retaining nuts that holds the kick panel by the parking brake in place?
The one that you can hand screw. TIA

    I agree.
I can't remember the situation, but the green one worked better than the black one for it..:cool:

If you ever remove the kick panel between the floor and the dash, these are a must.
I ordered 25 and then gave half of them away on the forum..

The black OEM clips were the weak ones. Thr Toyota redesigned bulge clips are white.

OEM cost more to ship than they are worth..:eek2:

I've had no problem with the black Amazon clips.
Just have to replace them every couple of years, just like the OEM clips..

Sparks show them to be black.

Been having the same issue. Top of the bulge popped up on a trip, was able to pop it back, but it popped up again. Bought these exact clips and see the have a bit more girth (haha) than the stock clips so I'm hoping they'll hold. Turns out the PLASTIC bracket the the middle of the 3 10mm bolts screw into is broken. So, I only have the two 10mm bolts on either end (plus the new clips) holding the bulge on. I'm guessing I'm going to have to replace the entire bulge if it keeps popping up.

Ask around on here, some folks have swapped and will gladly sell ya whatever you need. I scored most of my parts for a collision repair here, and got a lot of great advice in the process

Same. Flimsy plastic these seem to be made of. I got hit with strong winds near Desert Center CA where all of the huge turbine fans are. Top of the bulge popped out and somehow broke the entire bracket the center of the 3 10mm bolts as well. Now it's just the clips and the 2 bolts on either end holding he bulge on. I bought the green clips from Amazon which seem to be a bit thicker (and were a bit harder to pop through when reinstalling the bulge) so I'm hoping I can postpone replacing the entire bulge. I did Line X bed liner on the bulge and grilled surround as well so that'll have to be done again on a new bulge. Ugh.

Hey all just FYI. With the broken middle bracket and only the two end bolts holding, I used the green GOOACC clips from Amazon. Huge difference! I went through a car wash and the multi high pressured dryer blowers did not effect the hood bulge at all! It didn't even budge, let alone pop out again. Even with the broken middle bracket where the bolt goes, I don't think I'll have to replace the bulge. The clips are holding strong.

I am on my third bulge. I replaced OEM with OEM. This last time I went with cheap Amazon part. Fit is not perfect but no issues for at least 50k miles.
