Just don't smell them. Keep the covers down, don't tuck your head under the covers. As long as those rules are followed, you wont get a whiff of it.

As I mentioned earlier, this is something I've spent a lot of time thinking about. Hopefully, I can put it into words while being coherent at the same time. Sometimes that's difficult for me.

With the FJ, I had rolled my own dual battery setup. I didn't like it probably because I didn't do something right due to my many village idiot moments. I want to fix those screw ups this time around and extend it to how I want to use the truck.

I need spots in the rear of the truck for running a fridge and charging everything from battery packs to laptops. I want to do those things from a second battery. I want to recharge that battery via solar. I've decided to spring for the IBS system. This would be the wiring diagram. The solar is an add-on and not necessary for the IBS system to work. Second battery will trickle charge from the main when the vehicle is running.

I've gotten mixed responses from my questions about inverters. Most of the answers revolve around not using one. The biggest issue being that the draw from the inverter will far outpace the recharging capabilities of a 400w solar system. Inverters are incredibly inefficient devices. Hence the reason that Toyota requires the vehicle to be running in order to use the factory inverters.

There are 12v heaters and electric blankets available. I think you are better off skipping the inverter. I will be.

My plan right now is to build some kind of rack in the bed. I'll put it up against the front of the bed, mounted to the Decked platform. This will have a cover to hold the second battery and a fuse block. The Decked platform has covered cubby holes in the corners. I will be mounting Blue Sea 12v sockets into these. Spot to plug the fridge in. Then I need to figure out the 12v chargers for laptop and battery packs.

I think it sounds like a great plan. I would love to help you build it.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to skip the inverter after reading more abut the capabilities. Going with a portable mini ultra quiet generator that will be universally functonal on many fronts. I will have lots of uses and don't want to be he'd to operation only near my truck, especially if I don't keep it
