I have a plastic 26 skid in my backyard. Let me know if you need a spare. I’ll bring it next time I see you if you want it.

Older thread, but Stumbled onto it. Your truck came a long ways from the earlier days when on the other site. Solid build!

Thanks man! LOL I'm still around, still wheeling The Truck. In fact, I spent all day cleaning up some electrical gremlins

I'm around, just super busy with work and school so don't have much time for the forums

What up! Someone messaged me here and it made me think about my build thread. I figured I would post a little update. The Truck is still doing work! We use it all the time. Last month I rebuilt the shocks and swapped fluids. Its gone through some changes. We got a dog (standard poodle) so we had to ditch the RTT and change the rack set up a little. I've done various minor upgrades to improve reliability to the front core section. It kept falling apart on me haha but I think it good now.

Anyways, just wanted to check in and let you guys know that we still use The Truck! It runs great! Its still our main adventure tool. See ya on the trails!

Hey @osidepunker, great build! I have a question for you. I've just upgraded my suspension, and I'm looking to get bigger tires. I've read a lot of different opinions on regearing though. What are your thoughts on 4.88 vs 5.29 with 37" tires? Thanks for your input!

Ive been running 4.88's and 37's for years. It works. 4.88's are technically stronger than 5.29's due to the pinion size and engagement. But I will be switching to 5.29's in the very near future. I have intentions of going to 39/40" tires in the future. Plus id like a little more response at lower rpm/Hp range.

Thanks for the reply! Are 5.29s better for towing?

    as an example
    Stock
    4.30's on 32 @ 55 MPH = 2483RPM
    4.30's on 32 @ 70 MPH = 3160 RPM
    4.88's on 37's @55 mph = 2437 RPM
    4.88's on 37's @70 mph = 3102 RPM
    5.29's on 37's @55 mph = 2642 RPM
    5.29's on 37's @70 mph = 3362 RPM

so the question is does the trans hunt for gears at your towing speed? if so some find 5.29's better
are you concerned with large hills and/or MPG 5.29's might be better

additionally, are you running a tune? If so, the trans map can be adjusted in a variety of ways to compensate for some of the above.

Added stock numbers 4.88's will put you closest to stock with larger tires.
