That's an issue hpt warns about. Not to use obd passthrough. Gotta be a clean connection.

Yeah, I was confused as I was still getting data to my screen even though the plug was dangling and hitting my shins while the MPVI3 was plugged in. The Scanner software was taking forever to scan, giving me errors saying I needed to connect to the vehicle when I already was and it showed connected. Once I went into the Alpine's settings and disabled OBD2, everything else started working like it was supposed to. Now I can use the Stable version of the Scanner software, and my gauges show up on my CANbus, so I'm no longer limited to 2 inputs.

CANbus below is one twisted pair "trunk" going from the terminator at the top right, to the terminator at the bottom right. Each device has a "stub" crimped onto the high and low wires of the trunk and connects to the CAN high and CAN low from the device. I have 5 stubs terminated to the 12-pin connector for my gauges, and one stub for the MPVI3. The other connector is for the analog inputs.

I had the direct option but knowing I want access to the OBD2 port did it this way, damn OBD only one access at a time sucks

Yeah, I'm not worried about it now that I know it was the issue...just one more thing to add to the pre-flash/pre-logging checklists. It should be as simple as my CANbus, all the connections are doing is tapping into the diagnostics CANbus on the factory system, but the tuning device clearly gets confused as comms between it and my truck and it and my CANbus-connected gauges got all wonky when the head unit was enabled. Disabled the head unit, and everything works like it's supposed to...except my boost is reading wrong over CAN (correct on gauge, so suspecting a transform issue), but that's a smaller hurdle.

I’ve been doing some test fitting with banks power on their a-pillar pod that they have for the 16-23 Tacoma, appears to fit like a glove if anyone is interested in have a gauge in this location. I just need to find some paint to match the pillar. IMG_4327.jpg IMG_4326.jpg

Nice. But I would need it lower out of my field of vision. I'm used to giving quick glances at my gages.

Well, it's been a pleasure. Hit a rock patch on a damp road coming around a corner and couldn't save it.

Aww man that's harsh. Was it a roll over? Bed looks crushed too.
Hope everyone is doing well and truck did its job protecting you. I used to run our logging roads hard until they closed them off. Hope insurance treats you well!

I walked away and was by myself thankfully. Little sore. I went through a tree and down 15ft into a farm field. The wreck didn't seem that bad from inside. Bags deployed and I thought I was in a big pillow. Thank you everyone!

Possibly going to a 1 ton diesel just to future proof for a larger trailer down the road.

I have State Farm so I'll keep my fingers crossed. So far the truck has been to three yards because this must be their first time dealing with an accident :monocle:

On the bright side maybe now you can tell us if @Abell207 would take a gauge pod to the dome piece in that situation if he leaves his gauge there near the side curtain airbags. Or any of the rest of us with similar gauge setups.

What do you think will happen with all the aftermarket stuff? I know this has gone threw my mind a time or 2. Over 10k in aftermarket stuff.

That crash is ooofta, would not have thought just walked away.

Some good news for 2021s today I was able to upload my first tune (thanks to Sniv) and all went well! (Used stable HP tuner, had the trickle charger on all night and was topped off, kept charger on, plugged in laptop, turned off accessories, doesn’t seem to be a way to completely turn off the head unit just the screen). My transmission is dying and will be calling up IPT most likely soon (and adding a trans cooler too).

Good to hear! I will try my hand at HPtuners again but for now @snivilous is making me a tune in D3 tuning software for the time being.
