Meh. Swapping out the spring as-is should be a bolt-up affair, it's just 60 minutes of my day I'd rather not have to go thru again.

But hey, maybe @FirstGenVol will want this spring, so he's only in for ~$200 and some U-bolts to have a complete rear lift.

Watch, I'll swap it out and the new one will have that one little crick sound too, because it's somehow related to geometry or something. It's only one small clunk sound when it goes up, and one when it comes down. It's not super loud. But once I hear it, I can't unhear it.

Me and Casey did an experiment with a bastard pack that had one extra leaf between the main leaf and the second leaf iirc, plus the icon AAL. I think Casey might try it out on the truck in a few years :D

Installed URD cam gears to retard the exhaust 3 degrees this weekend. I've been pleased with the effects. Gained some power above 2.5k without losing any low end and supposedly I will see a bump in mpgs. The weirdest change is that it coasts so much better. Before I would let off the gas and it felt like the truck hit a wall but now it just coasts and coasts.
Also grabbed a new throttle body gasket and intake manifold gasket from Toyota. Reused the valve cover gaskets seen as they're 18 months old or so.

Ha it's popular with the second gen Tacoma people. I love reading through threads on here but any time I need something engine related I gotta go brave TacomaWorld for the 4.0.

What are you selling? Leak packs? I would probably go with Archive Garage when I'm ready.

Also a good idea. Idk if it's my welding skills (probably) or what but I couldn't get that to work either. I ended up just removing the pulley again so I could get a hold of the threads from the other side.

Those are cool. I always see em on URDs site, but never heard of anyone using em. You going to stay NA?
    Any other engine mods planned?
    Long tube headers purhaps?

I'm staying NA for the foreseeable future. You know, i'm still relatively poor and its my only vehicle so I don't need to give it more things to break.
A .5 inch manifold spacer has caught my eye but not sold on it.

Yeah, LTs are in my future I think. I'm thinking a nice pair of JBA or Doug Thorley. URD was making equal length headers for the 1gr that were nice but then I guess he started having emissions problems and he quit making them. :(
I'm also in the process of getting either VF Tuner or HPTuners to unlock the ECU for 4.0 Tundy so I can get to tuning. Maybe one day I can get one of them to agree :fistbump:

My buddy @texoma does VF tunes in Lago Vista, TX. He tuned my 06 Tundra and will hopefully be tuning my 03 tundra soon. Both v8's. Anyways, he has a 2nd gen taco 4.0 with long tubes and it sounds amazing.
But he blew the engine and has mentioned wanting to do an LS swap. Not sure what he's going to do.

yeah, i used it on a few older led lights for dust lights in the past so i had it laying around, but it really shines through nicely, these casings were crusty to begin with so ill replace them eventually but it holds up

I guess I'm showing my ignorance but I didn't know the tundra received the 4.0. Turns out it was available for 9 years.

That's a neat upgrade. Did you need a tune to go with it? How tough was the install? I wonder if such a thing exists for the 4.7.

I've talked to him before about getting a tune done and thats when I learned the Tundra 4.0 is not supported. I'm only about a 20 minute drive from him. You're making me want to do long tubes now.

Tune is not required although it is recommended. It was easy, if you can do valve covers you can do this. As @455h0le_dachshund said, the 4.0 has a timing chain vs. the belt on the 4.7 so I don't think that upgrade is possible.

I wonder if he's going to fix his 4.0 or swap in a V8 and sell his longtubes .

That sucks yours isn't supported. My 03 2uz isn't supported either, but he's going to hook up to it Sunday and send my ECM info off to OVTune and see if they can remedy it. Maybe he could do the same for you.

I wonder if it's actually still rattling, but the tape is insulating the metal-on-metal contact?

    I would think so.

Today I installed the coveted in dash fog lamp switch @txagg sent me . Thanks buddy!

I also mounted 2 battery boxes and my inverter. I also ran lines inside the bed wall for my inverter. The breaker arrives tomorrow. Then I’ll wire it all up.

Lastly, the silver mirror caps had to go. Gloss black is way better with the gold wheels

Did I miss the post where you said what adventure you are prepping your truck for?
I used to have a mini microwave tucked in the side utility box of my work truck, so handy.
The inverter didn't like it so much, but once I put a solid strap of copper in place of the fuse it quit complaining... :anonymous:
