I just bought an 02 Tundra and put new 2025 batteries in both fobs. When pushing the top button it only beeps. Bottom button does nothing. Any suggestions? Keyless entry would be nice to have working

I'm not sure what battery goes in the remote but it was a 2025 that came out of both. I'll have to figure out how to attach a pic of the remote to this forum. I'm not computer savvy, sorry.

I put a 2032 battery in the remote and still have the same result. Won’t lock the doors. What’s next?IMG_3857.jpg

We've had a few similar cases on here in the past, but I'm drawing a blank. I've been in a brain fog for a few months now that's been getting worse the last few weeks.

This thread has a ton of RS3000 information, which is the system you have: https://www.tundras.com/threads/key-fob-replacement-2002-tundra.55779/

The fact it's happening with both remotes, and the same symptoms, it would lend to there being another issue - like ...
    • The original dealer of the truck installed a SECURIKEY+ or KARR add-on alarm system which is failing and interfering with the door lock - its guts would be under the dash probably on driver side or behind driver kick panel, look for wire splicing.
    • A previous owner of the truck installed an aftermarket alarm system which is failing and interfering with the door lock - its guts would be under the dash probably on driver side or behind driver kick panel, look for wire splicing.
    • You have a lock actuator that's stuck, and preventing one of the functions from working - does it lock the doors when you put your key in outside and turn left or right?
    • Your RS3000 ECU is not working correctly, that thread I linked shows where to find the box.
    • There's a common windshield/a-pillar water leak that can send water down into the fusebox inside the cab/dash (pics & pics & pics, it happens a LOT) but I doubt that's your issue.
You may have luck in that other thread too. But really, I've got RS3200 in my truck, and if I realize anything at this point, it's that I don't know a ton about RS3000 systems.
