Code reader/scanner for 2000 Tundra

I would like to buy a code reader and scanner for my Tundra. Keeping the cost down is a must. The Innova 5210 looks like it may fit my needs. Has anyone used the Innova 5210 on their Tundra. Opinions Please

I use the OBD Fushion app, I paid the 15$ for all the extra features for my year of tundra. Give me access to everything I need from it. I also bought like a 20$ Bluetooth OBD reader to connect with the app

Presently Amazon shows as Currently unavailable. Yes, that should do the job. I need a stand alone unit. I dont have aq cell phone to run extra apps. I am remote in the Adirondack Mountains, no cell signal

If it were me in that case, I'd personally go with Autel. IMHO, they're just a more-established brand. The

AL329 is a pretty solid unit.

Reality in today's times? I wouldn't be surprised to find Innova and Autel are made in the exact same factory with same guts, slightly different firmware.

I have a veepeak bluetooth OBDII dongle and use both torque pro and OBD Fusion. It's great for both checking clearing DTCs, OBD fusion will even get into other modules. And using the dashboard feature to display information in real-time. They also allow you to data log various parameters as well.

 

I have a generic reader and a BlueDriver BT reader.

Yesterday I bought a code reader that will display the DTC codes and clear them. This all I wanted and it only cost $19.95 at Wally World. There is no sense to buy a reader that will also display live stream data, when I have no idea what the live stream should be showing. I am a Point Ignition and a Diesel guy. I have a friend who is sharp on computer driven engines to help if needed.

I am 80 years old and really don’t want to spend the tremendous time needed to learn and diagnose computer driven engine issues. In 1958, 65 years ago at 15 years old, I bought and repaired my first vehicle, a 1950 Desoto with a M6 Fluid Drive……no computers ha ha. Since 1973, I have always had various C3 Corvettes, all Point Ignition. Since 2000 I have been building Dodge Old Iron
converted to Diesel Power.

On August 3, 2023 I finally bought my first Tundra from the original owner. She is a 2000, AC,TRD in beautiful condition, including a beautiful frame. She has 40750 original miles, yes 40750 miles. Except for a few paint chips she is like new in and out. It even came with a Fisher Homesteader Plow, only plowed 2 times by the original owner. I will never use the Plow as I have a Bombardier Tracked Pony Skidder
with blade and full hydraulics. In the next few days, I will posting pictures of my Tundra in the 1st Gen forum.

Awesome. There are a few 'red herring' codes that will pop up with these trucks; if you let us know what yours are, chances are we can fill you in on what may be the problem, and if there's a technical bulletin out for it, or some easier fix.

You can probably skip over sections you're not interested in (audio, suspension) but pay attention to the parts of the 1st reply and 2nd reply which has TSB/problem info, major issues, problematic aftermarket parts (like, never use anything except OEM lower ball joints unless you like losing a wheel randomly).

My first car was a 1952 Plymouth Cranbrook Club Coupe with an L-head 6. Bought it from an elderly gentleman at the Calif Vets HOME in Yountville shortly before he died. My dad taught me how to fix it up. Wish I had kept it.

 

Did your plymouth have the fluid drive ? It was a strange transmission, but it worked back in the day.
