I am having difficulty finding both rear backing plates. When I search, I only find left side. Amazon has 1 listed as left side (part #47043-35170) and a non specified (part #47043-35180). Elsewhere searching I have seen the left side listed as part #47043-35180.

What gives?? I assume they are not the same part for both sides. But why can't I find them both?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

1st rule of thumb: If you want authentic parts, NEVER buy on scAmazon or fleaBay. They have a terrible track record for knockoffs, albeit authentic looking as ever, and it's screwed over a lot of enthusiasts, including some of us here on this forum. It's not limited to Toyota OEM, it happens a lot with name-brand parts, spark plugs are huge counterfeit industry, anything electronic or mass-assembled. And not just car parts, it's happened to me with appliance parts and small engine parts for my mowers and blowers too. Never trust those sources.

2nd rule of thumb: Use an authentic source to find your part numbers, specifically for your VIN. There can be massive differences between our trucks with different cab types and drivetrain configurations, and even packages. Read this, the top section. The parts system will always include a two letter "LH" or "RH" designation on any part that has left/right version.

3rd rule of thumb: Always know what you're up against with your truck, and have the service manuals, wiring diagrams, TSBs and other important info you need. Read this, just the first 2 replies will do.

4th rule of thumb: Go into your profile, and change your "2001 Tundra" vehicle description. Update it to include the cab type, engine and drivetrain, and package like ... "2001 Tundra Regular Cab V8 2WD SR5". This helps us help you more easily.

Thank you! With this I was able to determine 35170 is left and 35180 is indeed right side.

If you take those part numbers and hit up McGeorge Toyota online, they usually have awesome OEM discounts. If the parts cost more than $75, you can typically use the coupon FREESHIP at https://autoparts.toyota.com also, and sometimes McGeorge as well.

This is quite a job to replace these unless you are already pulling axles and doing bearings and such. Just something to keep in mind.
