Looking for any help on this...

I installed an aftermarket Radio a couple months back. Write up of what I have:
Let’s see all aftermarket head units installed

Anyways, about a week ago the rear camera started having issues. Right after turning it on, it worked great. But after a few moments it'd fade to static. I just pulled the radio partially out and was looking to see if I had any loose connections. All connections are good and solid. I checked the ground (gave it another ground) and still static. When I unplug/replug the harness it works for a moment, but then it fades away after about 3 seconds. Anyone have any thoughts / ideas?

    Pretty things
Returned from our first road trip with the new-ish rig.

Betty pulled the TT admirably, especially given the wicked headwinds we encountered on our first day... and above 10k feet as seen in the pictures

    Good Tundra.

Got my Alcan springs delivered! Went for ultimate beef with 2000lb rating since we recently got a tractor I’m planning on pulling around regularly (TYM 474C)B2D06436-F51D-483B-B888-A8F58421BF93.jpg

How much of a lift are those going to create? I’d love to upgrade my OEM leafs but would prefer not lifting up the rear much, if at all.

I asked for 0" additional lift since I have coachbuilder 3" shackles (1.75" of lift). Because they are custom you tell them what amount of lift/weight you'll be carrying etc. but beware they are pricey.

They cost more than my falcon shocks but there aren't really any other options out there that would meet my weight needs plus the big names like OME, Ironman, Dobinsons are designed in Australia but made in China. Some will say 'but your bumpers are chinese made', true and they've served their purpose until I get a welder and make my own. Leafs are a much more critical component that will be put to the test regularly so followed the buy once cry once rule and these provide more peace of mind when I'm pulling the tractor or put on the camper shell + load up all of our gear.

I know you didn't ask for all that but I'm sure some of you were wondering..

Why not ditch the shackles and ask for the springs to be +2" in addition to your weight specs?

Thought about it and went over that with Lew the owner at Alcan, we both agreed I should keep the coachbuilder shackles. They are a quality product, if I were to ditch the ones I have I would just buy another coachbuilder set at 0" lift, and that's just unnecessary spending..

Well... Truck started throwing the P0441 and P0455 codes every few days again

I had replaced the gas cap and air switch valve less than a year ago when the truck started throwing the same codes. However, at the time, I could not get an OE air switch valve from the dealer. So, I just grabbed one from a local parts store and threw it in. Problem solved, but turns out it would only be for a short while. Now, here we are again... same codes :censored:

So this time I just ordered a new OE switch valve and a new OE vacuum regulator from a reasonably local dealer. Parts shipped and arrived in only 3 days!!!

    upload_2023-6-25_0-21-33.jpg

Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total
    25860-0S020 2007-2020 Toyota Air Switch Valve $73.16 1 $73.16
    25860-0S010 2007-2020 Toyota Vacuum Regulator $39.38 1 $39.38

Tonight, after finishing up w/my pups for the day, I pulled off the engine cover and performed the 5 minute swap of both parts. Seriously took longer to walk into the garage and find a 10mm and a 12mm wrench than it did install the 2 parts.

Scan tool showed no pending codes after the install and a short drive, so I'm hoping that resolves the issue.

Next step would be the charcoal canister and that's $$$... Pardon the dust; engine bay needs some TLC

Replaced the front rotors and brakes. Also got them bedded in. Had them smoking pretty good. Warped the last set diving down 81 between Winchester and Radford. That stretch of road is hard on brakes. So is 64 between 81 and 295.

I second Alcans. My situation was slightly different. I had CB +2’s on stock leaf’s. The stock leaf’s were flatten/ W shaped and I was not comfortable having a 35” full size spare that close to my shackles. The CB shackles are beefy and well build as @pyrite808 said.

I ended up going with Alcan’s with 1” of lift and 700 lbs capacity to support my diamondback, bed rack, RTT, awning, bumper full size spare and all the other crap I take with me. Also I changed my shackles to dobinson’s with no lift but greaseable and added airbags/ daystar cradles.

I couldn’t be happier with the results. Definitely a buy once cry once situation but the smile when you have no bed bounce on concrete highways and hauling a$$ on unpaved roads without feeling a thing is priceless.

Can I ask, what type of pads do you run on? Organics are a pain in the butt for material build up on rotors causing 'warp' symptoms.

Has anyone else noticed the large horizontal expanse of their dashboard, immediately below the windshield, flexing up and down when running off road?

I replaced a lower ball joint this weekend. The joint wasn't loose, but I pinched the boot and it started leaking grease when I swapped front diffs this spring.

I'll try to post a how to thread on it elsewhere. O'Reilly's rental tools took everything apart, but I needed a different size sleeve to install the Moog part. HF expansion sleeve kit worked after I cut one of the cups down.

I know I know, it's no FG without pictures but I don't care. When I bought my 07 last year, the truck was in great shape except for the carpet where there were multiple cigarette burns esp. on the drivers side. So today I watched a y/t video on how to repair and I gotta say I am very pleased with the outcome. I have multiple burns to do so the process I used seems pretty good going forward. I figure once the burns are covered up, and then a good shampooing and extraction I think they'll look acceptable.

Found some nice(r) running boards today on FB marketplace and swapped out the chrome ones that came with the truck. Pain in the ass to get them to mount on level and there are a few minor chips in the paint, but I think it's a huge upgrade.

Speaking of running boards, I reversed mine up over a steep dirt bank today, thought the front bumper would ground out on the track but instead my drivers side grounded out going over the bank and she wouldn't go any further - the running board was buried under three inches of dirt! Surprisingly enough, after loading her up with work tools, she wasn't stuck and drove straight out - gravity probably helped out a lot, quite a lot!

I figured out how to load my square stern canoe solo today so I opted to throw the endro on the hitch carrier as well just to make sure there are no surprises when I'm ready to hit the trail. Okay, also I wanted to see how it looked with both on the truck.

Update on this: I was able to locate an OEM sensor but am still waiting for it to arrive. I have in the meantime got an aftermarket sensor overnighted from Amazon and it seems to have cleared the trouble codes. I will be swapping for OEM when it decides to show up.
