I installed myself in a few hours. Theres a couple YouTube videos I used for reference and it was pretty easy. Just make sure you have all the tools and take your time.

It is really not that hard to install , did it in my garage and I don’t have a lift , make sure you have a torque wrench, obd2 reader so you can read trans temp , take your time and double check the steps , torque per specs and you should be good to go. Check for leaks for couple days after install to make sure all is good

I did it myself, my one mistake was I cut one of the rubber hoses just a little too short, it worked just fine but I wasn't happy with how tight it was so I bought another one and did it right.

    None so far.....

I've watched the video a couple of times and it does seem straight forward. I do have a trusted mechanic that has a reasonable rate - waiting to see if he has time but if not I'll probably tackle it myself. Thanks gents for the info - appreciate it greatly!

?!?! What was your trick to getting the hardlines routed? Most of the job was easy. But as a whole, I'd say it was maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10. The hardlines were a PIA to both install and uninstall!

There was really no trick, just patience and a lot twisting them at different angles until they fell into place.

I honestly felt like installing my cat shields were a way bigger PITA than the trans cooler.

I’d rank it a 5/10 for difficulty, it’s mostly time consuming. Took me 4-hours, but because I made a couple of mistakes. I struggled with the rubber hose connections on the hardline the most. I got lucky and it only took a couple of minutes for me to route the hard lines. Attaching the hardline on the mounting point near the alternator wasn’t easy as there is barely any room to get up there.

I finally gave in and ordered my kit from Genuine Cooling Systems this morning. I've spent the past 7 months since I bought my new-to-me 2021 going back and forth between installing the kit or not. I no longer tow as much as I did back when I had either of my 1-ton diesels (nor as heavily, of course), but I do tend to keep my trucks a while (7-8 years for each of the 1 tons), so I suspect it will be worth it to me for peace of mind.

A few weeks ago, I input the PIDs for trans temp into my OBDLink and monitored them on my commute home from work, for giggles. The weather was about 65 degF, and it got to 230+ at times just driving the 24 miles home on the pan temp in mixed highway and stop and go. I get it that WS fluid doesn't mind temps like others, but it bothers me.

My Ram 3500 with Aisin Trans hovered at 158-160, and only got to 175-180 dragging my 13,000lb 5th wheel in the dead of summer. Yes, different beast with different transmission...but I'm a creature of habit I guess, and get a nervous tick knowing the temps are at 230+ when not towing. :)

Literally just finished the install 10 min ago and I'm just waiting on a buddy to come over to monitor the temp so I can crack the drain open and get the level right but my god my knuckles and arms are busted the fuck up, very easy install but just no room for us guys with some neat hooks on us

I jumped on a kit a while back that had ugly welds for a discount. I was stoked. Might be worth asking him if he has ugly weld kits

I just wanted to close the loop on my issue should anyone have similar problems.

I have been watching my temps since my last post and it started becoming 200+ daily commute, with the cooler. Figured I'd check fluid, etc. I couldn't execute the check correctly which led me to question a blockage in the system.

I ordered a new tstat online (about $100 cheaper than in store despite being a walk-in online purchase) and I did 2 things to try and figure this out. Not sure where the issue was, but it's now resolved and I can watch the thermostat open and immediately impact pan, torque converter and coolant temps. My test run has the transmission opening at 187, closing at 183.

First: I used compressed air to test flow through the pinned open tstat after it was disconnected. Confirmed all ports were open.

Second: purged the cooler part of the system with compressed air. After fluid was purged I was able to confirm no obstructions.

Installed new tstat and left return line disconnected, ran the truck and purged/primed the system and confirmed I had fluid all the way to the return port on the tstat.

After refilling, I was able to set the level without issue. Confirmed to be fixed.

I don't know if there was simple a blockage somewhere that the air cleared or if it was the tstat, but it is resolved. I have the old part of someone thinks there is a better test than air through it.

Installed my trans cooler Saturday, along with an oil change, front/rear diff fluid change, transfer case oil change (with what is apparently unicorn tears at $90/qt) and a transmission drain/fill. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the transmission fluid I drained out for the change (at 30K) looked really really good. This gives me confidence that with the cooler now, the trans will be even more happy. :)

Today driving to work, temps held at 185, with occasional 188 spikes. Looks like it's working well! Thanks to everyone here for sharing your thoughts, and helping me to arrive at (for me) the right call to install one.

*** Free 15 Row Full Kit, Veepeak OBDCheck BLE Bluetooth Adapter, and Shipping to lower 48 states. ***

UPS destroyed one of our customers boxes during shipping recently. The contents survived just fine but the cooler box did get a little dirty and they lost some of the OEM hose bags. Nothing that you wouldn't have thrown in the trash anyways. I cant sell it as new so I have decided to have an "open box" giveaway to one of the lucky members here.

To enter you need to go to our and give us a follow and also like this message. I will pick the winner on Monday June 12th. Good luck to you all! *New Customers Only*

It's possible I'll have a 20-Row kit to sell soon. It was only on the truck for a few thousand mile before truck got wrecked. I've already removed it, just haven't decided if I'm keeping it for the next project or not

Looks like the costs of the kits have gone up since I bought mine. That and considering the 20-row isn't available atm, I'd like to get what I paid for out of it. Especially with the low mile usage of it. So $1100 shipped.
