First time I drove my 2023 platinum in the snow last night and I finally have my first Forum-worthy nit.

The parking sensors in the grill are in a a slight depression and the pocket fills with slush as your driving.

Eventually your dash lights up with parking sensor obstruction warnings that ding and flash all over the place. I have no idea how to tell them to shut up so I can focus on the icy road but I ain't stopping and getting out every mile to wipe slush out.

Any thoughts on how to solve this design flaw?

There should be a STFU and let me drive setting on things like this.

I have enjoyed turning off a number of nanny warnings using Carista. You can make changes to the artificial engine noise, adjust seatbelt and parking chirps, door warnings etc. I changed the number of turn signal blinks per short press, etc.

Here is a partial list of customizations showing on their website, there are others I’ve found on the app. I used the free trial to make some adjustments. I paid for another month to play with it some more, will cancel as I’m happy with the setup now. Once you have the hardware you can always pay for another month of access if you want to tweak further.

Do you know when they will support 3rd Gen with that? Looks like its only compatible with gen2 Tundras

some of those settings are done via the main center stack console and not regulated to techstream or carista only.

It doesn't list as being compatible with 3rd Gen but it definitely works as I have used it many times on my 2022 Tundra. I was skeptical at first as well, but it was seamless.

most of those are standard configs for all newer gen tss v3 cars. so the options are common across all models in the ecu.

heck some of those options are even in my old 2018 tundra and my 2014 4runner.

You should have a button on your dash/center console to turn off parking sensors. Super easy.

Yeah apparently even if you turn it off it's unhappy that the sensor is blocked...

That might be your radar sensor behind the Toyota emblem in your grill. The parking sensors are a separate system.

Carista works fine for the 3rd Gen. Used it on mine and worked great. I get the same warnings when its covered in snow, have not found a way to keep it from popping back up. Extremely annoying.

the parking sensors have only a few functions from what i know, proxmity to objects while parking, people collision, bsm while driving. so you have to turn off a few functions for it to not beep.

They do not do BSM. Those are separate and larger sensors located inside the bumpers. The parking sonar is only for proximity at short range.

Yep. Turn off LTA and lane-centering completely, all the time. Turn off adaptive cruise control every time I turn on cruise control, and turn off collision braking assist or whatever it's called whenever I get the sensor warning.

First off...I think you'll find what is "forum-worthy" to be very subjective. Feel free to post whatever you want.

    Regarding the sensors:

TSS Radar (Circled in Red): The sensor complaining about snow build up while driving is the TSS Radar circled in red. If snow builds up on that, you will start to get dash warnings saying PCS (Pre-Collision System) and ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) are unavailable. I believe it also says "clear sensor of debris" or something like that. This is pretty common while driving in snow. Happens to me all the time when I drive through snow.

Parking Sensors (Underlined in Blue): The parking sensors are only actively "pinging" when driving under a certain MPH. Somewhere below 10 mph, I believe. At highway speeds, they are not actively sensing and essentially turn off.

LTA & RSA (Circled in Yellow): The LTA (Lane Tracing Assistance) and the RSA (Road Sign Assist) camera is up at the top of the windshield. This can also get blocked by heavy snow, but your wipers cover this area during their swing. So it really shouldn't get blocked unless there is ice build up while driving. The heater has a hard time defrosting this area in bitter cold.

Interesting -- I can confirm the warning was for parking sensor which I thought and you confirmed are the the blue circled sensor built in to the mile-wide grill.

I was getting the warning even at "max" snow driving speed of 35mph....

In general I think it may be specific to wet slushy snow - the sleet this morning didn't cause any problems when I let the wife borrow the truck to get to work.

Sounds like in general its edge case.

I put the plow on front of my 2022 and shut every sensor off and still slams on the brakes and cuts power as I’m pulling away…

about ready to unplug the radar sensor see it makes it useable, otherwise I can’t leave the driveway with this foolishness..

Anyone know what microphone this is in the Carista settings? I assume for the navigation assistance, but is there no way to turn it off entirely, instead of adjusting sensitivity? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Figured that was it. I guess the sensitivity is for the Wake word to wake up the assistant. It'd be nice if it could be disabled without physically unplugging it.

Anyone have the Carista adapter lying around? If so, let’s set up a rental program with a small fee that includes shipping to/from.

Do you know if you can turn the enhanced engine sound off with Carista? Referring to the engine sound pumped through the upgraded JBL sound system. Thanks

Sweet! Thank you. My dealer couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. Im not sure if they didn't want to spend the time to look for it or couldn’t find it.

dealer is just jerking your chain. its not that dam hard to find in techstream. especially if you are a certified toyota tech. they just didnt want to do it (either the tech, thinking its a waste of his time since they are not getting paid to do this, or the dealer doesnt want to waste a paying customer slot for the tech to do it)

you could also offer to pay for an hour of tech labor and they will prob do it, but its just cheaper to pay for 1 month of carista to do it yourself. ($10)
