I ordered the harness. I’m still trying to decide if I want to upgrade the head unit. I really appreciate the help. 3300$ in and it still isn’t right. I’m at a loss. But I’m getting help from you and other people on here so I’m hopeful.

On my 2017, the only thing i lost was navigation display on the gauge cluter wen i was using the navigation. Not 100% sure about on 2019's, i know they changed some things up with the stereos after 2017
It wasn't a deal breaker for me.

The maestro will make it so you can retain all your factory functions like steering wheel controls.

EDIT: I see @Danimal already mentioned some of this.

If you can find a HU you want, look to Cructhfeild or @james@tech12volts and put it in yourself.
Don't let these hacks work on your truck again

For a small fee, Crutchfield will hook up your wiring harness, from what I'm told.
Don't forget with a new HU, you are going to need a steering wheel control module.
Most of us use iData Maestro units, they will help you retain most, if not all, of your steering wheel controls for your new HU.

    HU installation is very simple.
Pull the lower panels out, remove 4 bolts, install the faceplate of your choice, and bolt it back in.
Although you'll need to run 3 pair of RCA cables from the HU to under the passenger seat, that can be a challenge.
If you can get Crutchfield or @james@tech12volts to do your wiring connection, it would be close to plug and play.

If you use Sirius/XM, you might want an external tuner that tucks up behind the HU.
But in all honestly, I use the Sirius/XM app on my phone and run it the Carplay.
It sounds better than the satellite feed.

I would call Crutchfield, they can really be helpful over the phone or thru chat.
You don't have to buy that day, they can email you what you discussed and you can figure it out.

Also, contact @james@tech12volts and see what he can do for you.

Get the HU in and we'll help you figure the amp stuff out.

BTW, I'm no expert and certainly don't claim to be.
I'm just a guy that has self-taught his way the car audio over the years.
I got a lot of help with the Tundra audio from guys on this forum.

Look at it this way, if I can do it, you can do it.
This is what your under seat amp set up should look like.
Although I guess you have a distribution block somewhere for your sub amp.
The factory amp should be gone and every connection be plug and play, meaning you can put the stock stuff back in the truck if you trade or sell it.
It would take me a couple hours or so, but I can return my truck to stock audio if I every got rid of it.

Thanks for sharing the name of the shop- people should get any warning they can. The work just looks sloppy, and it doesn’t sound like they treated you well or responsively.

My phase 1 included installing a kit that included a 5ch amp and a 12” sub in a box. Phase 2 was door speakers and sound deadening. The final phase was the head unit.

Any questions about anything- I’m here! I’ll try to help.

Here is some pics of what they did under the seat. They also disconnect the dash speakers from the hu and connected to amp. And disconnect my center dash speaker.

Once you add an amplifier, you need to disconnect the dash speakers. The dash speakers as mentioned earlier are powered by the head unit itself, so you will have a volume miss-match between the door speakers and the dash speakers.

In all honesty, i've seen worse installs than this (just talking the install, not the fact that it sounds like crap). If it sounded good and they would have just made an amp rack so that it wasn't sitting all crooked, it probably would have been fine.

Its kinda hard to track whats going on here with the factory wiring going into the factory amp. It looks like they clipped some of the wires pretty close to the plug.....fuckers!

Ideally they would have used a wiring harness like this (i got mine from Tech12volt) to utilize the factory wiring without chopping it up.
    c9bie0Mxy9HOq7aFea7Zvq3XYPSxsj1NVAoafkpN_9963c95b5e4563d2a548af49b7a189cdaf94c819.jpg

In reality, probably not going down this route anymore, it will be pretty difficult to try to get those short wires back to the harness.
It depends on what your comfortable with doing, we can help walk you through it as much as we can, but if you aren't comfortable with it, then find a shop to fix it. Everything that they've done can be undone pretty easily.

    My immediate thought too..
Looking at those pics literally pisses me off.
What a bunch of hack a-holes.

All they needed to do is use this adapter and not cut a single OEM wire.
These connect to the plugs that go into the factory amp, bypassing it.
Gives you loose wires on the other end to attach to whatever you need.

Honestly it would of been easier, faster , and less work if they had got a harness and did it right.

Did you pay with a credit card?

If so, consider disputing the charge. You have to do it in writing, and they'll want to know that you tried to work it out with the vendor first. Some details here.

As a first step, consider telling the vendor "You performed substandard workmanship, made these damages made to my vehicle, etc, and if you don't ___ then I'll be forced to dispute the charge with my credit card company." That might be enough to get a concession that starts to make you whole. Not sure what you'd want the "____" to be.

    Good luck. Sucks.

Unfortunately I payed with cash. The shop is ducking and diving me. Actually blamed me for stuff. Told me. You didn’t say you wanted it to sound good and loud. We added an amp so it’ll be louder. It’s louder you should be happy. They hacked up my wiring. Blew a new speaker. Covered my air vent with the amp. Talked to me like I was stupid. Honestly I don’t want to even go back up there or I’ll lose it on them.

how about attaching the fuse block to 4 wires coming from a harness and on the other side of the block attached to a single 16 or 18 gauge wire. Flopping around with every bump. What could go wrong.

That looks like your amp power line fuse.
It should have been mounted to the side of the firewall to the right of the fuse box.

It should look more like this..

At first, I had 2 4 gauge lines from the battery, the 2 fuses..

    27FC8FDD-7327-4855-B1B4-161405B057F4_zps_d21cbd839e95242b7cca801bd4f6d24c40ebf406.jpg E56AC200-362A-4566-8FDF-EBCE9FDE0AD3_zps_685dceb9da4e5805734377cd61a96b6de14e0398.jpg

I now have 1 0 gauge line to my 5 channel amp with the 1 fuse..
I also did a 0 gauge ground from the battery to the chassis.

That shop really is a big hack business.
What they did was a lazy install all the way around.
They had no idea of what they were doing as far as Tundra (Toyota) installs.

If you are on Facebook, you need to plaster these pics and your story all over it and let people know what a shit job they did.
You can post it on Yelp as well.

The job they did is truly unacceptable.:(

You cant be serious? How is it remotely possible that you go to them and ask for a new system and the supposed experts do this to your truck AND ITS YOUR FAULT !!!!!

You all see this - Is there anyone close to him that is experienced with audio installs, that can go visit the manager at this shop and spell out what they will do to make this right, OR ELSE !!!

I really hope you can get all this corrected with the help of the fine folks here on this forum. Reading your post just makes me ill. I cannot image what you are dealing with.
But be assured, this will be corrected and you will be in a better place. The folks here are absolutely the best....

    None yet but it’s common
I redid it myself today. It just really blows my mind. I had a little extra money and didn’t want to deal with it this time. This is the first and only time I’m paying a (professional) to do something I can do. I’ll just go behind the and sweep up their messes.
