Let me know - I'll know in 27 hours whether or not I've got to go in for jury duty next week. If not, I'm available to drive out and pick up and can hold for you by Friday.

I'm assuming from other pics they've got that they'll have the wheel I need. As long as they'll give it to me for $100-150 with a spare-worthy tire, I'm all-in and I'm getting my value out of the trek.

Once I get to the interstate. I'll call that way I'll have uninterrupted reception instead of thus spotty hill country shit. Till then, place yourself in the shoes of a junkyard worker.

You know a little bit about cars, but not a great deal. Would you be able to figure out how to take these pictures from my pictures?

Greased the driveshaft finally. Used mystik stick.
    20220303_101403.jpg

Looks like I got to the driveshaft just in time. There wasn't a whole lot of grease that came out of the u-joints, and what did come out was just straight black goo. You can see a little bit of it on the bottom of the slip yoke pictured below. Did a few bounces on the tailgate, and then pumped some more in. Didn't really feel like it made much of a difference so I'm gonna revisit after a few days of driving.
    20220303_103516.jpg
    20220303_103754.jpg

All the extra grease you see here that came out of the slip yoke I wiped on the frame just where I could reach. No real rhyme or reason as to where.

Xfr case side of the front axle. The front side of it ain't no joke with the sway-bar in the way, and the power steering lines which both need replacing...
    20220303_104237.jpg

Double cardan joint. Greased both outside u-joints, but couldn't get my locking grease coupler to latch on the center of the cardan. I'm sure I got some grease in it, but nowhere near as much as I'd like. I wiped down the whole joint because that's just how much extra grease didn't make it inside the center zerk.
    20220303_111937.jpg

Just a gratuitous shot looking back from the xfr case.
    20220303_112050.jpg

When I was done, I was thoroughly frustrated with the double cardan joint... Pulling myself out from under crackie I poked a hole in the passengers side rocker. Pissed me off so I hit the rocker with my hand which made an even bigger hole.
    20220303_114253.jpg

On the plus side, I was able to see that none of the rust had ventured up yet. Just hung out down on the "floor" of the rocker. Pulled out about half a pound of rust, dirt, and debrizzle from the hole.

Pulled the truck out of the rain tonight for a little check up, and hose swap. Vacuum lines at 286K miles were well... toasted.
The one with the blue arrow wasn't even connected to the little purge valve thing before I swapped it for new. Just hanging loose down on the d-side valve cover. Wish I could say I did all of them, but I didn't. Some felt tight, and I didn't want to get stranded while pulled up at work. Quite a ways away from home.

Even did the power steering double nipple line thing. The old hoses literally just fell off the fitting. New silicone goes on, and grips tight!
    20220306_204911.jpg

No pictures, but I used up three cans of fluid film. Did the rear end, and some of the passengers side frame rail. She's Moist.

Ran out to the local gas station for smokes, and drinks. Filled up with petrol. All $70 worth... Came back to work, and took a trip over the scale. I've got a ton of crap in the cab that I need to clean out, and three cases of water bottles in the bed. Not bad I think for 4WD, and an 8ft caaaappppppppp.
    20220306_211214.jpg

Pulled into the parking lot for some engine idle readings now that the one evap line is hooked back up. First one is in drive, but brake pressed at a stop.
    Screenshot_20220306-211349_HT200.jpg

This one is in park after sitting idle for 8 minutes with no air running.
    Screenshot_20220306-211436_HT200.jpg

About normal Idle? Guess I need to do the ole brake cleaner trick to see if I have anymore vacuum leaks.

Been MIA most of the day because I've been on the road most of the day! Made it down to @shifty` stomping ground to pick up some doors he secured for me. A few blemishes on them, but used and no rust. I think a PDR, or the body shop will be able to work with them. Most importantly, door check sheet metal is in good shape. All other things are tolerable.

I’ll keep eyes peeled for a long bed in white while hunting out my full size spare. Sorry to send you running so quick. Civic duty calls, piss poor timing as it was. Curious what the case is, they asked me a bunch of questions pertaining to insurance companies and whether I or family members ever worked for one of the big names (gecko, Flo, the farm, etc), so I’m thinking it’s a civil suit of some sort.

Seriously, can't thank you enough for saving my bacon, and taking care of me while I was in the area. When you get around to your suspension upgrades Holla atcha Boi!

Regarding the bed, it doesn't have to be white. Given the rarity, I'll take any bed in good shape that isn't rusted out. Same goes for the tailgate.

Still on the road, but pulled off to post, and check fluids. ATF is back in normal levels. Must be warm. Oil was a touch low. Added a quart. Seen this guy south of Murfreesboro TN. Absolutely no peen.

My friend Spencer is from Murfreesboro. 2nd R is silent, else everyone knows you're from out of town, if not out of state/country. I sent the pic to him, the lack of shock on his face spoke volumes.

    Finally got home.
    20220308_145743.jpg

Spoke with my body shop guy. He said the one door would be easy to fix (passengers side,) but the drivers side door would be a lot of work due to the way the sheet metal bent when they opened the door after collision. So I'm still on the hunt for a driver's side door. Any finders, any where, any color. If it's within a 1-1.5 day drive. PM me. Hoping we can work something out.

Anyways, after speaking with him I was curious on the condition of the floor, and things attached to the floor. Like the seats, so I pulled out the passenger side, cleaned up a bunch of junk, and half ass vacuumed. Kinda ashamed of the condition of my interior when @shifty` saw it. After seeing his "not even scratched" truck.
    20220308_164043.jpg

I sprayed probably two whole cans of fluid film in the rockers using the holes under the scuff plate. Pulled up the carpet to check out the floor. Wasn't bad actually. Did notice one peculiar thing with those floor plugs. See how the bigger one it raised in one spot? That's hoe I found it, and I couldn't pull that plug out either. Sheet metal felt raised too. Probably a wrinkle that I can't see. Weird.
    20220308_163252.jpg
    20220308_163249.jpg

Found the label for the carpet in the same place I did on the V6. Snapped a picture, and then did a quick cool springs search. Discontinued. Bummer. Guess I need to cut up an access cab carpet. I wished I'd have thought about pulling the tag back to read the date, but I was racing the sun. As always.
    20220308_164934.jpg

Put the pass seat back in, and then organized my rear cab "storage." Better.
    20220308_180256.jpg

Pulled the driver side. Same treatment. Pulled out a whole 71 cents in pennies from the floor in total. Chump change. Put the driver side back in, and then added my new seat cover.
    20220308_174711.jpg

I should have stuck it on the passengers side so I can scoot the seat forward, and use the HOV lane.

Congrats, but if it hasn't stuck at this point that I'm the last person on the planet that's going to judge you, you're never gonna learn

Honestly I didn't notice. But dammit, fix yer f'n passenger seatbelt already :D

Not like you had time to prepare for the trip anyway.

    Yeah, but here's the thing.

First off, I've spent more hours cleaning my truck up and modernizing the electronics than anything, instead of doing all the worthwhile mods to suspension, tires, exhaust, and other stuff. I'm still working through functional stuff before I start tearing into suspension and shoes.

But past that, our trucks lived two very different lives. My 1st owner driving its first 50k(ish) miles managed a small bank branch near Birmingham AL. From the home address I found inside the truck and the bank literature with his name and position, I know for a fact it wasn't a long daily trip and I also know he parked the truck outdoors, which is probably why the paint was so crazy chalked out. When I looked up the dude, he's an older guy so not the type to beat the hell out of it. IIRC, it was listed as a "fleet use" vehicle or "business use" because the bank guy was exploiting some (I'm sure) financial loophole or something similar, which was a point I used to negotiate the price down a chunk.

I dunno what the 2nd short owner did with it or why they got rid of it, but there were signs maybe he'd used it for pulling a boat around, but only had a few thousand miles before trading in. I can tell the 1st owner did the TB based on the sticker. Someone dropped money into the rear brakes, can't imagine they've got that much shoe left on the factory shoes at 73k. Someone replaced some wheel studs before mine snapped off. Other little odds and ends here or there beyond that, but it generally doesn't seem like it's seen a "real" day of work in its life.

Anyway, definitely not a situation of farm-truck-turned-crackie-ride.

Don't forget you paid about 1/5th or 1/6th of what mine was marked at.

Oh, no I completely understand that you're not gonna judge. It has nothing to do with that. I feel bad because your feet were at least 2 inches off the floor due to junk. Lol. I feel bad that I let it get that bad.

So basically this is my truck...
    upload_2016-6-21_19-59-15.jpg

And then your truck was literally babied by the previous owners.

I dunno man, I legit didn't notice anything but the seat belt clicker thingy being busted. I was just happy for a ride to get to the damn courthouse :D

But hey man, awareness is power. Glad it bugged you enough to make some change happen, I guess?

For the record, there's quite a few things about my truck that bug the living fuck outta me. But the more I'm in it, the less I seem to notice.

    I'll sell it, $28k and it's yours!

The thing that bothers me the absolute most is the unknown brand lower ball joints. I can deal with everything else as is for a little while. They are obviously non-oem.

28K? Let me die first, and then borrow some of my life insurance from mom/pop. Fork lol

$180 or so bucks and 2 or 3 hours of your time (and an allignment) you could have those ball joints knocked out. Better than waiting for bad things to happen.

I think this will be my next big purchase after I finish up ordering parts for the suspension.
    upload_2022-3-9_8-4-9.jpg

The rack currently on crackie has rusted pressure lines, and has a "TRW" sticker on it. Just doesn't look like the rack on the V6, and feels off. Not sure if this "complete assembly" comes with the pressure lines or not, but if not, I guess I'll have to order them too.

Need to find another non-torn OEM CV axle so I can plop them in to buy me time. Curious if I could blow all the crunchies/crusties/nasties out of my old CV's with brake kleen, or a pressure washer, dry in the oven, and then reboot. Need to get on ECGS, and order that thing. Should have re-read that thread, and ordered parts with my other shiznit. FORK!

Welp, I think this made up my mind. Sometime soon, I'm going to pull the dash, and then go through it with a fine tooth comb looking for mouse nests. Probably replace the heater core while it's all apart. Engine coolant filter is on order.

You need to wear some PPE if you've got a mouse issue man. That Hantavirus is no joke. At least wash your hands a lot while working in there. If you have that in your blower motor it means every time you kick on the system you're inhaling that shit. Not good.

More motivation for heater core replacement.

Not real sure I could get the dash in the "right" way, but positive I can pull it out. This needs to change.
