Honestly? That would be the height of insanity, based on some of the direct exchanges we've had which got somewhat heated. And yes, I suppose that would be great cover as well if someone really wanted to hide.

But all TJ needs to do is look in the forum logs and he'll quickly see all of my traffic is uniquely coming from Atlanta, Phoenix, and a specific spot in Switzerland. I'm happy to PM him my work information which will clearly explain the latter two sources of traffic (work VPN).

I'll ping next time I'm out there. I'm usually out 1-2x a year. Typically end up in the NW quadrant, last time they put us up in Paradise Valley but it's usually Biltmore area.

The way the seats are deigned, the front bolts hold vertical sheer. The rear bolts hold horizontal sheer. Adding a spacer like this does weaken the integrity of the whole thing. But enough to matter in a crash? I doubt that unless it's a crash you aren't walking away from anyway. I would be more concerned if the seatbelts came out of the top of the seat like on a Tahoe.

I think my LED gels from CT Illumination will finally come tomorrow. Went with the green ones to better match the instrument gauge cluster green LEDs. We will see how it looks.

Ordered some KYB's for the front and back. I'm building this truck for my dad, or else I would have gone with the 5100 Billy's. Thought about adding a 1/4 inch spacer to correct the driver side sag. Then I started thinking 1/2 spacer on driver 1/4 on passenger would be nice. So 1 inch lift on driver, 1/2 on passenger. Any thoughts?

I remember him saying that he disliked me while tagging me in a post. Then he went on to say that he had me blocked so he would never even see my reply. That’s when I knew he had the maturity of a child.

I tolerated the dude and recognized that, even through the long winded, know it all attitude, he would occasionally contribute some little nuggets. And that’s what makes a forum.

    Bleh, enough.

I'm not a fan of spacers for lift or even level side to side. But, if you understand their limitations, no reason you can't use them. Several have used them and are happy with the result. Depending on size, a spacer on top of a shock will allow a shock to bottom out before the bump stop does it's job. A taller spring on a stock or stock replacement shock body will limit droop to gain lift and top out the shock for degraded ride quality. I had the latter setup for years and it was fine for street only but a fairly stiff ride. Cornered great.

So far so good. I still can’t get a comfortable seating position in this truck but I do feel closer to it with these risers

Man I can't tell you how many times my tundra and t100 have been called Tacoma's by 2nd and 3rd gen taco and tundra people, among other self proclaimed Toyota enthiasts. Those people just don't know their Toyota history.

Perfect. Will not level the front to rear, but it will help and it will level left to right as long as you've measured it all correctly. Or at least help. Either way I say go for it.

So, I went down the windshield rabbit hole on this forum. Mine is still going on it's factory Toyota glass, and it has a good sized chip repair in the line of vision as well as wiper scratches and pitting. After a ton of reading, learned Pilkington is the best glass. Then I called Pilkington and found out the windshields for our trucks are now sourced from China by them. Final answer for best non OEM windshield for our trucks is Fuyao, which sounds like Chinese garbage but is made in the US to a higher standard. For the lesser gen Tundra's Pilkington still makes those in house and they are the best.

If I keep this up, I'll pay for my LTXs in gas savings in under a year! :bananadance: Got the pair of Milwaukee fastback utility knife kit that everyone has been talking about at Home Depot this morning (the compact and regular fastback for $15).

So, 2020 Highlander Limited had to have glass replaced this past week. Due to the collision sensor and some other stuff, the company would only install OEM glass on that. I still have my OEM glass on my '06, so I'm in same boat as you: Wiper scratches that are "potentially buffable" with cerium oxide slurry, and overall degraded quality, and while I'd prefer OEM replacement, the '06 glass from Toyota is like ... $800+ or something last time I checked. That doesn't jibe well with me.

That said, the installer who put in the glass is a "lifer" in the industry and a technical person. Smaller mom and pop shop did the install, they do mobile install, avg 100 windshields a week. He basically told me to go quality, "as long as it's Pilkington, you're good to go". But he may've been thinking '06' was 2nd gen, if what you're saying is correct. Can't expect a glass guy to know the generational year cutoffs for every make/model.

There was this guy who claimed to be an industry vet of 25 years and would give free advice, but it looks like he's not responding on the thread anymore, else I'd ask over there. @Outbound may have some input because I believe he's in the same boat (or was, a year or two ago). We had similar chatter about this topic last year over here where another glass industry guy recommended Pilkington. I really dunno, but I was really happy with the company that replaced the Highlander windshield so I'll probably book an appointment to request the same guy to figure out what glass will be best and install.

I've seen comments around the interwebs saying Toyota OEM is premium Pilkington with a Toyota logo screened onto it.

I really don't want to say it out loud, but the windscreen in my truck is original and in fine shape, barring the one little star I got from a rock on a road trip last year. I really need to call Safelite and have that little guy epoxied closed before it turns into a crack and I need a whole new screen.
The 911 is due a whole new windscreen this winter. It's got ~150k miles worth of tiny chips and one bullseye. It doesn't look that bad until you drive into the sun, then the whole windscreen turns into a panel of blinding light. Sucks so bad. I'll just buy the glass and shove it in myself. It's not that bad. The truck would warrant the assistance of a pro.
