    Hey everyone,

I’m curious what everyone has done to their trucks to lift them. I have a 2011 Toyota Tundra TRD. I want at least a 3.5-4” lift so I can fit 33s (tires). My husband and I have read that the Trd is already lifted 2” factory. So I was looking at a leveling kit possibly 2” in the front 1” in the back. But not really sure what route to take. Anyone have any suggestions? Any type of brand?

    Thanks much!!

Official welcome for your first post... Plenty of valuable information under the Tundra Garage section in "suspension" where members been there, done that, with comments, feedback, brands, Budget, etc....most with wheels and tires combinations too. Good luck.

Welcome. No expert here, but my stock CrewMax TRD OffRoad fit 33” tires without mods. Then I decided to take some rake out by lifting the front just under an inch with Bilstein 5100’s, and got rubbing on the skid plate. Installed a RCI skid two weeks later and no rubs. The truck looks level, but still has just over an inch of rake, perfect for light towing. Good luck!

Trd pro has factory 2" lift. Not the trd offroad. I'm running 33x12.50x18 on +12 offset no rubbing and no lift

Okay thank you. I thought we read that it did. Because I have the Trd rock warriors. I guess we didn’t realize all the differences in them.

I'm running 34's easily with 3 inches of lift up front. I have 1.5 inch lift in the rear, but that isn't necessary. But as others have mentioned, you should be able to run 33's without any lift.

Only the TRD Pro is lifted 2".

You don't need to do anything to fit 33s on your stock rims. Unless you want a lift for looks, it's best to keep it minimal. Even offroad, bigger tires (if you need ground clearance) and minimal lift works best.

I have 325/65r18s (35x13) with 18x9 +25 offset wheels (stock is +60 so I'm 35mm more outboard), and no lift. It never rubs. Removed mudflaps moved plastic forward... also did the BMC, but it wasn't absolutely necessary. If you put 295/70r18s (34.4") or 285/75r18s (34.8") on stock rims you'll need to do little... definitely won't need the BMC. Moving the tires outboard as well as increasing the diameter, both take away clearance.

A 2" lift is enough for 37s. Those look very good on a Tundra IMO.

If you want/need a lift I'd recommend using struts that provide lift rather than spacers... especially if you go offroad.

Okay awesome. Thank you so much for all the info. I really want 33s. My husband wasn’t big on putting a lift on because we had so many issues with my Jeep’s lift. But that’s why we were looking into at least a leveling kit to lift the front end.

Yeah I don’t want to get rid of the wheels I just want a bigger tire and put the Trd wheels on the new tire.

The Rock Warrior models came stock with 285/70r17 tires which are 32.7"... technically already a 33. Is this the size you have? What size tires are you looking for? If you want bigger, you're looking in the 34" range. You still won't need a lift but will probably need some plastic manipulation.

    285/75 and 305/70 are both 33.8".

You are right I do already have 33s (285/70R17) on it right now. They don’t seem it. But they may be worn down.

Tundras just look better with bigger tires. I put 35s on mine and immediately thought... "wish I'd gotten 37s"...

I'm about 98% sure you can fit 315/70r17 (34.4x12) without a BMC... not that the body mount chop is a big deal. Should clear the inboard stuff too... those rims are 10mm further outboard than the other Tundra stock rims, so that will help. I am pretty sure you'll need to remove the mudflaps, and move the front of the plastic liner forward. Easy. Must be a thread about how to make clearance on here somewhere...

It's a common misconception that a 2-3" lift gives you clearance, but it really doesn't for <35" tires. If you want to avoid rub even when your suspension is compressed and you are turning, you'll have to do the same mods anyway.

Yeah I definitely see what your saying. We have some looking up to do because neither one of us know a whole lot on Toyota’s. I was always a dodge girl when I was younger and my husband was always a Honda man so we’re both steering to different brands I definitely love my Toyota. I just want it a little higher. Haha. I’m trying to figure out how to post a pic on here to show you guys what it looks like now.

I still can’t believe I have 33s on there now. I swear when he looked at them a while back they were 31s. He can’t believe that it doesn’t have that 2” lift in it factory cause it does seem to sit high unless we’re just not used to the full size trucks

The 2011 models must have bigger fender wells. I just bought a 2021 crewmax and installed a 3” toytech/bilstein kit, 17x9 0 offset fuel covert wheels with 315/70-17 toyo mt’s and had to do a body mount cut. My tires rubbed the body mount hard.
Keep in mind not all tires are true to size. Just because it claims 33” doesn’t mean it’s actual 33”. Some tire companies have actual sizes/specs online.

I’m not sure if you can measure it this way but I know back when I bought it and was telling the hubby I wanted bigger tires I believed they measured with a tape measure from ground to top of tire and it was 31 in but you may be right. The ones on there may not be true to size

Nah, yours and my 2016 are the same. Two reasons you needed a BMC. 1) 0mm offset is 60mm further outboard than normal stock. Thats over 2"... plus the rims are 1" wider. 2)The lift didn't gain you anything...

That size tire on Rock Warrior rims clears much better.

The bottom of the tire is squished, so that is about right. Good looking truck!
