This is the reason why I have been avoiding aftermarket wheels so far. I have a 2.5" lift and have 34" Toyo AT 3's installed and it looks and rides great on the stock TSS wheels.

However, I know new wheels and a better "looking" offset can make the truck "look" even better, but It's a $1,400+ gamble that I have not come to terms with..

Shouldn't need the balance bags after. Was studying up on the road force balance and its good shit. I can see why they have to charge extra for it though, special machine, mounting and dismounting each tire multiple times, requires a competent employee trained on machine (probably the hardest thing to find now days ). But, it should definitely fix your shit or at least tell you what wheel/tire is screwed up and needs replaced/warranteed.

I had the same problem also , I went back to the shop where i bought the tires, they balanced it again, same problem. Went to the dealership to get it balanced and alignment. Alignment was fine but still vibrating. Then I went to DTC and they do the road force balance, holy moly what a big difference. The DTC
where i go to do not do alignment. I was gonna go back to the dealership to get aligned again but didn’t need to. I say get it road force balanced if you have a DTC around you

So mine has been having bad vibrations since I got new tires started about 6 months after buying them I’ve had them re balanced and everything multiple times everything checks out then the other day I was playing with tire pressure. I was at 35 or 36psi and I lowered down to 32 psi and no more vibes!!!!!! So give that a go if you have issues.

Figured I would update this thread if anyone cares. I was still battling wheel vibration up until this past weekend. I took my truck in for an alignment to bring the total toe down to .14 from .28 to try and help with tire wear. Went for a test drive on the freeway afterwards and guess what? No more vibration at any speed. I have since put 250 miles on the new alignment and still running smooth. I'm dumbfounded but happy it seems to be fixed after a year.

Did you ever figure out the balancing issues and shimmy??? I have a 2020 tacoma sr and.bought icon rebounds....icon told me.they are lug centric even tho the hub bore is the correct size as my axle ..my installer blew me.off when I told.him they are lug centric bc.the hubs the same but my ride feels off...when i get.to about.60 my steering wheel.shakes .yesterday he replaced a tire so im.hoping.that took away the shimmy.tire had high road force ....i wont know if its gone until.i drive to work Monday and get up to speed...did your issues go away after.lug centric balancing? Any thoughts on it a lug csntric balance will help even tho the hub bore is the right size?

I had a similar issue with my Silverado, I battled it with cooper 33” tires for over a year until discount tire finally replaced two of them and the shimmy went away. I had another issue with cooper tires on my tundra and will never buy cooper again.

newer grand cherokees have this inherent problem that the steering wheel shakes unless everything is perfect. I battled with stock size Michelin’s for a few months. Road force balancing made it ok for a normal person, but I still noticed a shimmy. It would take 10 minutes on the freeway for it to go away due to flat spots. Also two tires road forced balanced better than the other two so at rotation the shimmy came back. In the end they had to be road forced, at a specific psi, and driven around for 5-10 minutes before the shimmy would go away. It was a living nightmare.

lessons learned: tire manufacturer matters big time, newer tires still develop small flat spots, tire pressure matters, I’ll never get aftermarket wheels.

Ditched my AT3s last week, with 5K on them, for AintYoMamma Geolander A/Ts. The Coopers couldn't be balanced. Working through DT, who say they road force balance, but I suspect it depends on who is working the machine. The Geolanders are much better than the Coopers, but there is still shake. The manager told me they see it with Toyotas, due to the lug centric nature of the wheels. Am kicking around taking it to 4WP, who did the conversion on the truck before I bought it, just to see if they know how to balance tires better than DT.
