Exhaust Clamp Issue

    I noticed my tail pipe was drooping some behind the passenger rear tire a couple of years after installing dirty deeds mufflers while utilizing the stock tailpipe. The join between the new mufflers and stock tailpipe is held together by a clamp. I didn't have any threads remaining to cinch it down, so I decided to look up a replacement clamp.

    I removed the clamp and junk on the left side of the photo to hopefully just replace it with the stainless clamp on the right. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001P28WK2?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

    Am I missing some additional hardware or gasket? It seemed like I was about bottoming out on the threads with the new clamp before I even got close to tightening around the pipe.

    I backed off of it and am running it without a pipe after the muffler for now before I mess anything up. Will likely take it to an exhaust shop if there isn't an obvious part missing.

    New clamp shown on right is not a stock replacement, so could be too large for the pipe and not allow it to get tight enough. No idea.

    I do know the stock clamp works fine. I used the stock clamp when installing my DD exhaust- have no issues and no leaks.

    Hello. I need some help identifying an "after market" donut gasket for a 2018 tundra. The gasket needed to connect the pipe downstream of the muffler to the rest of the exhaust tubing. Has anyone ordered this before? Auto shop wants to charge me "$20-30 for the part and then an hour of labor"....they can get bent. There are other options on Amazon that would likely suffice.

    I purchased the same clamp for the same location on my DD system. Worked perfectly. No gasket, but I did goop it up with some high temp RTV.

    Why not just buy OEM, they can't cost much. It will surely work and you will be done with it.

    Yeah, I probably will go that route. Ugh, what a frustrating component. The damn pipe wants to rotate as I install it.

    What size clamp did you use 2 3/4” or the 3” v band clamp for the tail pipe? The 2 1/2” would be too small correct…

    Clamps are garbage. Still kept slipping…went to a local exhaust shop and had them weld it for $40. Should have gone that route from the beginning.

    I paid 40$ CDN replacing it buying it at a autopart store. There was no gasket. Just clamps on.
