that is why I removed the engine cover and surrounding foam. The same thing happened to my brothers mustang.
I try and spot any rodent issue. lately I’ve been following dads old habit of lifting the hood looking around the engine bay, also checking the oil before I take off in the morning while I have coffee. I believe tomcat has a rodent deterrent spray out there might give it a shot too.

    Wow.. Programmer and Rodent revenge.
Get a dog (terrier or something)
    Put down mouse traps
Stop putting programmers on your trucks.
    Get a cheap tester
Yes the dealership has high end scan tools that see everything, including the program history.
You 2016 folks should have already ditched your 2015 OEM battery for AGM.
    Keep changing your fluids
Wash her once in awhile... Wax wouldn't hurt

Have a great Christmas and enjoy the world's most dependable truck.

Tifford, I tried that and failed. Once I reconnected the battery, the light came right back.

I ran the code and it came back as the knock sensor...just like the others had said. Took it to the dealers and sure enough, a rodent had chewed the wire harness.

$80 for a new harness and $600 for the labor. I thought of doing it myself but the intake has to be removed to get to the wire and I didn’t want to deal with it.
I popped the engine cover off when I got home and could see where something had scratched at the foam and stacked leaves to make a bed. The dude at the dealer said that the top of our engines makes a perfect warm bed for them.
I did some internet searches and it also appears Toyota uses an organic material to insulate the wire harness. It’s likely that the rodents are attracted to this once they get in the engine bay.

Last thing, a lot of insurances will cover this type of damage. I didn’t mess with it but may be an option if you don’t want to fork over the $$$.

I just mean I live on the coast we don’t really have this issue but I’ll have to get it checked if it comes back on

Bad alternator, bad battery, or rodent damage are Usually the culprit when the instrument cluster becomes a Christmas tree.

I know everyone hates on oem batteries, but i paid 79.99 for a replacement battery with 7 year warranty. No issues in 2 years.

I had this issue with check engine light and traction control off message. It turned out to be a dirty air flow sensor. First issue was a year ago. I cleaned it with air flow cleaner. Second time I replaced the sensor.
