Long tubes ultimately will make more power. But shorties will provide a bit more than long in the bottom end

My google fu seems to indicate those will work. You'll want to buy new gaskets. Tagging a few people that have done the job to see which gaskets they went with. @imDementeD @Darkness @Thrussn

Percy's header gaskets for the manifolds. Looks like they are also going by Taylor Cable as a name. You can look for Percy's 66080

    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/php-66080

Remflex #8015 I believe is this one for the collector
    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rfl-8015

Also you'll want 22 new locking nuts from Toyota, a few spare studs wouldn't hurt in case yours break. You need 8 nuts per manifold and 3 nuts per collector. Might need 3 bolts per collector too, I can't remember.

I used remflex for the header gasket and it did fantastic. I'm going to use them again when I reinstall another header this weekend because I keep breaking my JBA shorty. I would recommend them for the collector gasket too. I'm ordering some as I type this lol.

Are those Percy's/Taylor Cable gaskets better than OEM Toyota or just cheaper? I bought OEM gaskets for about $55 for the Doug Thorley headers.

I've never used oem ones but when I did my headers and compared the two, the oem were pretty flimsy compared to Percy's. I think the Percy's have a little more room to compensate for any gaps between the head and flange.

I haven't heard any complaints on oem gaskets either, they should work.

Went OEM gaskets. Originally OEM at the header and JBA at the collector that leaked and replaced with OEM.

That is no small amount of work. Congrats on some quality work so far! I just spent an arm a leg and several months on an Outback XT manual trans rebuild. Every time I turned around there was a “While I’m in here I might as well ...” project. That line of thinking will double your time to finish but in the end you have a vision and you should see it through! I can’t wait to see your finished product, good luck!

how did that go? I'm wondering how difficult the fuel line fittings were to break loose?

    Fantastic work so far..

Dan, do you have quick tips to where I can find all the unhooking places for the dash... maybe a link to instructions-? I don’t have a proper manual for my 2002 that covers this.

Yeah. That Driver Side will break your Spirit if you let it. Spent 18 hours tucked up in the wheel well last week. Two Mangled Studs and one stuck stud (left it on and it came back to haunt me on Manifold put back but prevailed over it again with Hand Mojo). No broken Studs on mine.

How did you get your broken studs off? That had to be disheartening.

I feel your pain. Just remember there are guys that have rebuilt engines with lots of go fast parts and left a block plug out and roasted the whole thing while doing cam break in.

Just some perspective. I need the reminder sometimes too. I have an awesome track record of making a level 5 project cost as much and take as much time as a solid 10.

new nuts...... boy i guess i am doing something wrong lol. The local toyota dealer wanted over 600 dollars for 16 studs and 22 nuts I about fell over. I ended up doing an online order from dealership that was not price gouging was about 230 or so i believe. i honestly dont understand how these dealerships can charge over double the listed msrp prices but i guess it happens everyday.
