I completely glossed over this sentence. This whole time I thought you had the Locker Down half safe, but you have one from Toyota. I'm going with this one. ~50 bucks cheaper than the Locker Down half safe (Sparks) & comes with a tray. "Tundradude34" code brought it down another 5%. Thanks!

When you get it check and see if the right rear corner is bent down slightly. Many that have received their safe had this issue. Use a rubber mallet and tap the corner back up before installing.

Here's an OEM. They are always $250+.
Here are some of the non-OEM. They are half the price and seem to outnumber OEM 3-1 on eBay. In looking closer, it appears they are not identical to OEM (the lock looks different).

They could be just as good as getting one from Toyota, but I'm hoping somebody else is my guinea pig.

I was under the impression the sparks half safe was oem with the tray. This isn’t the case?

The lock is definitely different. It uses a double sided key and knob looks plastic. Personally I would spend the extra dollars for known quality and the safety of my items.

Sorry I didn’t see this. Yes it’s OEM. Southeast Toyota, so only that region carries it.
Arrived today & installed it. It’s solid! Also, I managed to cut my OCD organizer to fit in each side, so have compartments, no dual-abyss.

Do you have a pic of the organizer cut in half? I'm still trying decide how to keep the other half organized.

If you end up getting one and cutting it, just be aware that the center console isn't perfectly square - it's shaped like an upside down trapezoid (the bottom of the console is slightly smaller than the top; though not nearly as pronounced as this):
    upload_2020-11-14_19-34-55.jpg

So that OCD organizer is shaped correctly to accommodate the trapezoid shape.

The only problem with this, is the locking safe side has regular straight, 90-degree angle walls - so when you cut the organizer for that side, you need to cut both ends of the slats (thus cutting off the angle on each end & making it 90 degrees).

On the open end of the console safe, one side is 90 degrees (the safe side), and the other side is the OEM side of the console, so it's slanted. For that side, you only cut the one end of the OCD organizer slats to make it 90 degrees: the end that touches the actual safe.

It's not nearly as complicated as it sounds. If you pick up the organizer you'll see what I mean.

I'll be your guinea pig. I went through this same thing a few weeks ago. Wanted a half safe for convenience, but the "Toyota" brand was pretty pricy, and in all likelihood made by the same mfgr as these others, so I took a chance on one from Amazon.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08C54Y49S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For half the cost I think its every bit as solid and sturdy as the Toyota version. Is it as solid as a Lock'r Down? Maybe... probably.
I compared it to a buddy's with the Toyota version he got from Sparks and besides the lock they are pretty much identical. In fact, we both agreed the cover plate on mine was a little tighter and would be harder to get a tool under than his. I only use it if I have to run in somewhere where handguns are not allowed, never leave a gun in the safe overnight or long-term, so I think this safe is perfect for that use. For reference the gun in the pic is a Glock 43X, so you can see there is plenty of room in there for larger items, purses, wallets, whatever.

@OnespeedTRD Man, I really appreciate your post! That's exactly the info I was looking for to make my decision. I also had never seen the interior space and wondered if my pistol would fit in there, but looks like it won't be an issue. I'm comfortable ordering the non-oem branded safe now.

Yep, no problem. There's plenty of room in there for pretty much whatever you may need to keep in there. That piece of foam in the back is just laying in there, can't remember if it was part of the packing material or something I had laying around or what. It actually makes it look smaller than it is, but even with that its plenty big enough for a pistol, spare mags, flashlight, whatever you need.

There are few different models on Amazon but the lock on this one looks a little more robust than the others, four digit combo vs three, and it came with two keys. It was shipped out of the DFW area and only took a couple of days to get here. I think you'll be more than satisfied with this one compared to the others out there, especially the OEM version. Between these and the Lock'r Down I just don't think its worth the extra cost as I can't see how they'd be any less defeatable than these to a determined thief. Since I'm not likely to leave my truck anywhere where that may happen, and especially not with my pistol in there, that's how I justified my decision.

One of the Amazon reviews indicated that the combination lock doesn't work. The way I read it, though, the writer of that review might not understand how it is supposed to work. If you don't use the keys at all, can you lock it securely using the combination lock? Then does the combination lock reliably unlock it to open? What are your experiences with this?

I have the locker down full size. While it might be considered an abyss I simply dropped a tray on some magnetic shelves inside. I'll also say I went with the keyed version first and it was a pain, the console won't shut with the key in and you can't leave it unlocked without the key in, so I upgraded for way too much money for the keyless. I can leave it unlocked, close both center console on top of unlocked safe, then lock the safe when I stop. I don't know about the other safes but I get the feeling a thief would have to steal my whole truck to work on gettin in the locker down . Buy once, cry once, but peace of mind is worth something

Yeah, I read that review too. I think that person just doesn’t understand the concept of a combo lock with a keyed back up. The key will always unlock the box, even if the combo is locked and you spin the dial. Otherwise there’d be no point in having a key. My lock works fine, no issues at all. When you spin it to lock it it actually tightens the lid down a little more and snugs up pretty tight, then spin the dial and you’re set.

On a related note, I have a distributor-installed safe that occupies half the console, pretty nice and wasn’t very expensive, is there a tray-type organizer out there that will fit adjacent to the safe?

Yes, the upper tray sits around the edge of the opening and there is a little hole to access the USB port underneath, or use that hole to pull it out to keep larger items underneath. I keep my manual and other rarely used junk in there, small items on the tray, and knife, flashlight and pens in the little holders on the bottom of the armrest lid.

Got it and installed it! A little more involved as I had a dealer installed console organizer, which had 2 rails riveted in place. Getting the rails off was a pain, but besides that, easy install and sturdy safe. The safe door seems like there's a little too much play when it's locked, like I can pull up 3/4", but it is what it is.

I'd contact the seller and ask them about it.
There shouldn't be that much play in the lid.

You may just need a different sized cam offset to get rid of that play.
Look down this link about half way and you'll see the different sized cams and the different offsets.

Cam Lock Accessories | Cam Lock | Cam Lock Finger Pull (fjmsecurity.com)

    2C2BAFD2-26EF-4DF1-A9A8-49CD2FCCF629_zps_a2c82a4c2bac1cd0f176dbf3419d6e79d1ef5599.jpg

Not sure who made your lock.
But if you measured the cam: thickness, length, hole size, what offset you may need, perhaps you can figure out what you need.

I had to work with it a bit when I put a Combi-cam on my swing case.

Also on my vault I put a small piece of rubber weather-strip I had in the garage and put it in the grove where the door closes into the frame.
It took some play out and my lid closes all the way down and securely.
