Title says it all, what else should I replace while in there replacing the front shocks (24261425 Correct model #?)
-Upper balls (see some ooze around them)?

I will now be doing this ASAP (next week) instead of planning out my suspension modifications due to fact that current shock is cutting into the mount...

    Here is what I bought:
    -KYB mounts
    -5100’s

Hard to say without being there but I would jack up the truck, grab the front tires and do the wiggle tests. If nothing fails that test, inspect the boots on the upper/lower ball joints, inspect the boots on outer tie rod ends, inspect the sway bar bushings. Anything that is showing signs of real wear you should consider replacing.

Its really hard to see the upper/lower arm bushings enough to gauge wear. With the coilover removed you can grab them and try to wiggle them around but with the coilover in place they're under too much tension to reveal excessive play.

Steering rack bshings are worth looking at, but they can be a pain to install so keep that in mind if yours don't seem too bad.

Once that's done, buy black paint.

This is what I would do if I were doing it again. Drop in complete units and then you've got the time to plan out what else you want to do. Literally 8 bolts to swap out both and no need to remove anything but the shock as a unit.

Anybody install those on a DC or have first-hand experience with how much lift you got once settled? Better yet, have any hub:fender measurements? Those look interesting - I'll have to do some research!

Aside from what was mentioned you could consider some extended sway bar end links for the lift (will come with new poly bushings), change your gearbox fluids/tranny fluid, check diff breathers, check brakes, check for leaks...etc I had to replace my drivers front wheel bearing @ 195k.

I’d probably try to cut mounting tab and fab up another one while you’re in there. Looks like tat shock body has about rubbed through it.

Re-Using factory coil springs. Guess it looks like the I will be using the KYB Mount supplied isolators! :annoyed:

yea. the smaller isolators are for running the Taco springs.

good news is you can probably sell those to another member easily

I recently installed 5100s all around that I got new on eBay after making an offer for $350 shipped.

Depending on the condition, I would consider replacing brake rotors, pads, rusted brake lines, fluid, etc...

I just replaced the rigid steel brake lines that run from the steering knuckle to the caliper with new OEM lines as they were starting to rust/blister and were easy enough to replace.

Planning on doing the same, but replacing all four 5100s for 855 OME and looking to get 2.5-3” level. That is purely preference but maintenance wise I’m replacing LBJs, UCAs, sway links (one missing) and CV Boots (one torn).
