What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Well pulled panels off to see what’s all pre wired for the doors on the truck. Looks like all I have to do is get door harnesses (or make my own) and I can have heated power mirrors, power windows. And there’s a few more un used plugs I found... EWD here I come. Lol

Indiana. I’ve found doors. But rust is what keeps me away. People wanting 400 bucks for used doors that are rotted along the bottom

 

Its your tires. If you try to inflate to negate the ‘wide footprint’, then you’ll feel like you are riding on wagon wheels. Trust me on this.

Keep’em low pressure and enjoy what it is: A much safer tire that gets lower MPG.

 

I was actually going to start a thread about this and ask what PSI folks are running. The door jamb on my truck says 26 front 29 rear. That seems ridiculous. I checked yesterday and I have 34-35 all around which I lowered to 33. I usually run them at 30 PSI and didn't realize Discount Tire must have topped them off during the last rotation.

After thinking about it, I believe this is the more likely reason my MPG went up. Not because of the PCV replacement. Both were done around the same time.

 

So After some miles on it and going up to the mountains.
Two things I've noticed ,
1. The truck does not feel as top heavy as before. Remember I have no sawy bars.
2. I had a high pitched tire noise around 60mph. That is gone.

 

The interesting part is I believe these tires weigh the same or less as my last tires when they were new. They have stiffer sidewalls but less meat in the tread, guessing the tradeoff in wei8is sidewall.

@Professional Hand Model yeah I considered that. I'm pretty sure these are running around 10psi lower than I normally would run but haven't pulled a gauge yet. If it is the tires I'm fine with that, since my truck sat a few months I'm hoping it isn't fuel turned into petroleum jelly caking up somewhere.

@FirstGenVol it depends a lot on the tire. My first set of Yokos I did the chalk test and came to 38-36. The Mickey ATZ I landed around 35-33. My current Yokos are different than the early set I had and I'm sure the tire shop just went factory numbers on them.

I picked this guy up cheap off someone on Facebook Marketplace to do some testing/measuring... the tire is Brand new

Filled up and did a mileage calc today. All city driving with stop and go. A bit of idle time and hauling 80 extra pounds all week. 11.5mpg.

 

Oil weepage seems to be slowing with the new oil change switch from a few weeks ago. Switched from Mobil 1 Advanced ‘Extended Performance’ Synthetic to Full Synthetic label. Still a slight haze ring around the gasket, but it hasn't advanced like it normally would by this time after a wipe down.

Clunk clunk has returned, but is just a single clunk. My shim is being squeezed out on one side. Will try shimming and caulking it back in later this week. One more try before having to buy new springs.

New Mobil ‘High Mileage’ 3 pks oil jugs (Wallywurl $25 jug) and DEX III (big gurl from Brasil $12 jug) ordered for delivery by Wednesday.

 

I saw a first gen last week on that same size tire with maybe 2" lift. I got excited and looked closer, he cut less metal than I did. He must never hit bumps or dips.

 

Something feels weird about receiving an order of transmission fluid at your front door.

 

Are the leds white or green in the gauge cluster on the 05-06 trucks. If it’s white with a tiny can it be removed? I’m kinda wanting to

They’re white and the gauge backing has a green film that you can wet sand off.

 

If the weather cooperates this weekend I'll start working on fitting my different center caps.

simple enough. im fine with green. but the damn alpine headunit im looking at only has white back light. white looks good too though

 

Ha, glanced at the first pic & thought 'I don't think it will fit, I think the BASKET will hit the roof'.

 

I have 35s with a 6 inch Lift. I had to remove the front mud flaps and in full Flex I still have a very minor rub. It is fixable for the amount that I am rubbing I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I think I just need to take a heat gun to the plastic right above where the mud flap mounted. How much lift do you have in the front?

 

I've been seeing white smoke out of the tail pipe that has my attention. It's not much but doesn't seem to go away even when the truck is warmed up.
Anyone else notice this on theirs?

 

How cold is it there? You can get white smoke even after it's warmed up if it's colder.

 

The outside temp definitely crossed my mind. It was around 50 degrees saturday when I was working on it. It is around 30 today when I noticed it again but the other vehicles around me were not producing any visible exhaust like mine.

Can you post up the procedures for doing a ‘complete transmission service’ on the 2002 Tundra V8 4wd SR5? Maybe a screen grab from the stealership books? Or, info from the tranny specialist.

I’m considering doing a pan drop and replacing the ‘screen filter’ with a new one. Need info on tightening the bolts on the circuit board inside the pan and info on solenoids replace if needed?

I’ve seen kits online that sell combo filters screens and solenoid kits for the transmission. Looking for any guidance. No current problems and just doing this for prevent maintenance. 161k on the OD. Thanks in advance.
