To prep for tomorrow afternoon, I removed the oem skid plate and sway bar. They’re the start to my oem parts stockpile that will take over the corner of the garage.

Rigged up a "bench" for my vise and put around 120ftlbs of torque down to get that damn bolt out so I could correct the top plate. I don't think it needs more than 60ftlbs, can't imagine that being good for steel bolt and aluminum female threads.

Sat down and looked at it standing up by itself for the first time since October. Front end should settle once the weight shifts a bit. Looking like a barn find with all that dust.
    20190125_191152.jpg

Next episode I'll be putting the new battery in, then drive a few laps around the parking lot to settle the height so I can torque the upper arms pivot down. Then spend a few hours cleaning it out, bed is full of shit and cab is full of tools and parts now. Then I might wash it on my way to get alignment.

PEX 1/2” from big box plumbing isle. I have a longer piece that reaches from the top engine bay down into the front diff fill hole. Works nicely. An 8’ piece of PEX will produce both fill tubes.

Let’s just say I had a hell of a time scrubbing all the residual ATF off and getting the rid smell before she got home from work.

Round one of the oil purge today. Oil so black you can see clouds in the reflection. Will finish tomorrow.

Thanks Erik, I have never tried anything like this. I am tempted to give it a go and see if I can notice any results.

It's worth a shot. I bought it on eBay for less than Amazon, free shipping.

I'll report back tomorrow after I finish the job.

Not sure. Depends on many factors. I would like to do them ASAP once they arrive, but not sure yet.

Its hard to tell exactly without serious diagnostic tools, but you will see how dark your oil is after the purge. I even did a second oil change (without flush additive) after driving 25 miles after the original flush and the oil looked like it had 5k on t.

Keep in mind: I did my valve cover gaskets, PCV, spark plugs, etc. prior to flush.

After flush, the truck was switched to full synthetic for the first time. In other words, many variables were changed. The unofficial result is a quieter and cooler temp engine that purrs. I did have and occasional tick on drivers side that hasn’t been heard since.

The oil now has about 3k on it. I’ll check it today for dirtiness.

Replaced bulbs at Key Ignition Ring and Ashtray with T-5 LED’s. Super bright white now. Green eliminated.
