I use a Lincoln grease gun with the flexible whip like @B737 said. I also use NGLI #2 Amsoil grease. It’s purple, cool. It’s grease, cool. It’s the specs Toyota calls for, cool. Any would do that matches what the requirement is.

No one posted torque specs for the "propeller" bolts. I'm in the middle of some overdue maintenance & would like to get this done before the hurricane washes us away, lol. Been searching my manuals, the web & this forum & came up with a dry hole so far. Has anyone done this?

I see no one answered this. Here’s my perspective, all ujoints should be greased. If they did not come with zerks, you can add them. If they don’t have plugged and threaded holes for zerks you can drill and thread them or replace the ujoints with some that are greasable.
You can probably run 20K to 30K miles without grease and not do damage. I would not recommend this.

I have a 2000 f150 4x4 that has the non serviceable joints with 250k miles and the original driveshaft still works great. My previous two ford broncos had a serviceable driveshaft and i had to replace those joints multiple times over their life. Not sure serviceable is better, maybe joints are built better and avoiding improper grease use and damaged seals is a pro. I personally feel better servicing the joints but my experience as far as longevity has been better with the non serviceable.

The answer to this would probably help a lot of us DIYers/stealership avoiders. Maybe cross-post the question in the “ask the Toyota mechanic” thread and see if @LOTSOFTOYS knows the answer.

    Bright pink truck nuts.

Got my hands on a toyota repair manual for a 2015 tundra. I've found zero differences between my 2014 and this 2015 in all work I've done to my truck thus far.

    4x4 only:
    -Front prop shaft bolts (8x): 59 ft/lb
-Front prop shaft heat insulator (2x): 12 ft/lb

    2 Piece Rear Prop Shaft:
    -Carrier bearing bolts (2x): 30 ft/lb
-Rear diff prop shaft bolts (4x,): 52ft/lb
-Carrier bearing lock nut (1x): 94ft/lb - this nut is only accessible by dropping the carrier bearing and separating the intermediate and rear driveshafts. it sits inside the rubber housing of the carrier bearing.
-Trans side prop shaft bolts (4x): 52ft/lb

Thanks for the info. I also didn’t mean to sound like all dealerships are bad. There are some good ones, especially those that help out on this forum. But once Toyotacare is over, my local dealer’s charges for basic services are incredibly high and I’ll be doing this kind of routine maintenance myself.

The gen 2 flange bolt specs are the same. I found those but wasn't sure if I could use them. Thanks for the info

Thought this would be informative in regards to the greasable vs non-greasable universal joints, at least the moog brand. I was looking for a set of joints for an older Tahoe for the mil and wasn't sure if I should go gresable or non-gresable. I think i am going with the non-greasable since it gets serviced at quick lube places and I bet they don't always fully wipe the zerk before pumping grease. Appears the non-gresable joint is a solid cast vs gresable, probably better for towing applications as it may not twist as much under heavy load, but just conjecture.

I'd rather have greasable, but we'll see. This is my first truck where the joints were sealed.

Anyone have an 18' with zerks?
I have crawled under the truck 2 times to confirm no grease fittings on any of the u-joints

I read this thread a while back and got grease, but never got around to actually using it. Well today I went to grease my 2018 and it doesn't have the zerks either.

I couldn't find a single grease zerk on my 2018 4x4. What's up with that.

So can we confirm that the 2018's are sealed? They are unable to be greased?

Literally was about to go out and get the stuff to do the job, luckily I did a quick search

I just looked at my 2019........no zerks. I can confirm that that the 2019 has sealed U-joints.
Based on posts from others it appears the 2018 has sealed U-joints as well.

So there are no zerks on the 2018’s or are there a couple, and if so where?

Could not find a single zerk on any of the u-joints, front and rear drive shaft on my 2019

There were zerks on all 5 of the u-joints on my 2012.

Hmmmm I don’t know how I feel about it but less maintenance? I notice in the 2018 manual it says only torquing the propellor shaft, nothing about lubricating

must have changed some time during the 2017 model year. I have not checked the front but I have none on the rear. I looked 3 times if you count the time I looked and then moved the truck slightly and looked again.

I saw the earlier posts, just wanted someone to confirm. I guess with no zerks, I’m unable to grease unless I were to drill and put my own which I won’t haha

I figure the 3 rear zerks are on each of the u-joints on the driveshaft for a 2017? I couldn't find anything on the rear of mine. The two fronts we're easy enough to find and grease.

I'm wondering if they didn't have zerks on the end of the year builds. As we bought our truck mid 2018.

so is the needle used for the zerk on the very front? I was able to get the gun on the zerk but every time O pumped the grease is just came out where the zerk was, and yes i cleaned off the old paint. I also couldnt get the damn zerk on the middle one for the life of me.

Yep, that’s what I found on my ‘15 Pro.
It’s possible that some grease gun lube connectors will fit, but I tried 3, without success. The needle works fine for me.
