We have a thread for our Stock Length Lower Control Arms, so I wanted to create one for our Tundra Long Travel Systems. We offer both Tubular and Boxed Long Travel Systems. Take a look at the details below and comment if you have questions.

TC Heim sway bar link kit is NOT INCLUDED. PT# 87250 is required to retain the sway bar.
    • 2.5" extended 4130 chromoly tubular upper arms bolt to factory control arm mounting locations.
    • Boxed and plated lower control arms are designed for dual 2.5" shock capability.
    • Upper and lower control arms eliminate factory ball joints and incorporate 1" uniballs for maximum wheel travel and component strength.
    • TOTAL CHAOS includes 1" I.D. uniballs that feature a heat treated stainless steel ball & heat treated stainless steel race for maximum corrosion resistance and component longevity. These uniball's also features a military grade PTFE woven fabric liner that helps prevent noise.
    • 2.5" long travel specific coil over shocks bolt into the factory coil bucket location. Extended travel shocks are too short and will not work.

    @TOTAL CHAOS

I actually have a question, but this may be more of a King suspension question...

On the King Spec TC LT coilovers, the coil springs are not standard 3.0 diameter coils instead they use a Chevy type ~3.5-3.75 diameter spring and that 1.2 inch really reduces clearance between the outer tierod and spring. Especially for those of us who run Coachbuilder tierods (like me) Additionally they are 600lb spec springs and for those who push hard with some added weight in the truck they are a little soft. Btw this also means you could probably spec a 3.0 coilover with enough clearance if you do something similar as below.

I went to Down south Motorsports and worked with Micha and we changed out the lower spring mount collar and top perch and swapped to a 700lb 3.0 diameter standard spring (which is much better) as well as a flutter stack. Totally improved the ride and manners of the truck.

So question is are they specd from king that way to give a more compliant ride for "normal" users and for us more extreme guys need to do something like what i described above as a solution. Btw i was getting rubbing on the spring with the stock king spec coil from rubbing with the tierod, now i dont.

BTW here is what i was talking about..
so in the one pic there is the orig (600lb) coil off the coil over and the new modified setup with the 700 lb standard style coil. You can see the diff in size

but the additional clearance in the second pic is good because i maybe had a 1/4 inch or less of space there before.

We are reaching out to King regarding the coils. Going to go discuss other potential options. It was originally designed for the stock tie rods, which it clears, but we'll mention this :)

We worked with King to provide the best all-around coil over shock. This is what works best for the majority of our users. Customers can change the valving or spring rate if they want to fine tune their setup.

Yeah that is what I figured... all good totally makes sense, id say my setup could be offered as a "standard" upgraged version for those wanting a little more offroad performance.

Side note the reason i found out this whole thing was with less than 5k miles on my coilovers I blew a front coil.. it collapsed so i had to get a new coil so i upgraded..

the shock was fine, just the actual coil failed

Will do, still working on a few things, front is done and we're re-dong the rear. We cut a foot off the frame and moved the rear forward spring mounts. As you can imagine ( reference scrambled egg build), it magnified the issues getting the rear suspension dialed in, plus I have no clue what I am doing lol. Hopefully we get the suspension done this week and I will start a build log. 44352229-64DF-4765-8814-37BE2A7B2F7A.jpg

Besides construction, the main difference is the Boxed Kit can accept a Sway Bar. If you purchase the TOTAL CHAOS LT Heim Sway Bar Kit you can run a swaybar with your Long Travel! This makes a noticeable difference in cornering stability. You'll have a beefier setup with the boxed kit.

We aren't a huge fan of dust caps or covers for uniballs. It will trap any moisture, dirt, or road grime. It's best to wipe the uniball clean and apply some lubricant before and after a trip. This will give you the longest lasting product.

The heim upgrade is great since it offers zero bushing deflection and more tuning for caster and camber. You can really fine tune the alignment.

I and the rest of my guys can attest to what they said, its a solid mount which means less deflection and the suspension works more effectively, additionally we all run 35-37" tires and you need to run higher caster #'s to have clearance and good steering feel at speed, we run 5 -7 + caster on our setups and with no heim uppers i think you max out around 3.5 to 4 maybe.

plus when you do dumb stuff like tweak your frame or bend your coil bucket from sending it too hard LOL you can still align the truck with the heims when you would be screwed if you didnt have them.

The lower control arms take so much load you want something in there that offers a little bit of absorption. On the 2007+ Tundra LCA’s we use massive polyurethane bushings for not only precise movement vs a rubber bushing but some flex to prevent frame damage and feeling every bump in the road as compared to a rigid uniball-style pivot. The lower control arm pivots feature zerk fittings for easy on the vehicle greasing which should keep the squeaks to a minimum.

Small Update - unfortunately it will be a while before we get this posted.

Going through the photos, instructions, and tech info we discovered it needs some updating. Originally the Light Racing Jounce Shock was the only bump compact enough to fit under the bed. Now that KING makes a stubby one we will be incorporating that into the kit.

If you have questions don't hesitate to contact us! Email info@chaosfab.com and we'll answer any questions.
Still planning on posting a thread when we can.

We don't offer a LT SUA Kit. Customers can build bed cages and use them with our current kit. We built a cage on our Platinum Build to get a little more out of the rear end.

ah so you guys are going to switch to the threaded body stubby, thats good otherwise most people dont like cutting into the bed and with the normal ones you have to cut into the bed to make room for the jounce. thats a good move far less fab work and easier to just bolt on. I think you guys should look at something like a bolt in bed cage like camburg. I wanted to run a full TC setup but the bed cage was the hang up for me since I am doing the whole build myself. So i went with their LT rear kit. Sorry :(

hopefully you will get the LT rear stuff up soon on the site so more people can see it. I know the LT guys on here are deff helping drive more people to LT because of how awesome it is :woot:

We initially reached out to King on this. I know they were looking into it.

Edit: Contact King if you'd like specifics on their Tundra shocks. They have updated their setup. Or email info@chaosfab.com
