    Hello all,

trying to determine best PSI for my new 295/70/18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers while mainly riding on pavement highway and city!

So far I went from 14.3 to 14.1 mpg

What are you running in a similar set up

Go with the pressures on the label on the drivers door pillar.
Or, 32 psi is good as s general rule.

Running 40 PSI in my KO2s. Played with 35-45 until I found best hwy ride quality and doesn't "look" overinflated.

I usually just run the max cold PSI allowed on the tires themselves.

Huh, never heard of that "chalk test". Makes sense.

That's kind of funny. We get all kinds of guys out in the glamis area with huge F-350's, 40" tires etc... they get stuck all the time and can't figure it out. I kick the tires and they're rocks. They have the pressures at 70-80. When I air em down to 15-20 they drive right out of the hole, w the trailer.
I've known guys to make $2k over a big weekend pulling people out w a little Toyota or 1/2 ton and an air compressor.

I am assuming that you are asking for only those tires with 80 max psi.

I run 45 psi on my Trail Grappler.

Call Nitto and ask them! I called Nitto on the larger size I had on my Sequoia and I just called Toyo an hour ago to get PSI recommendation for my LT285/60R20 Open County AT II Xtreme installed yesterday
    41F cold
    44R cold

Will do a chalk test to adjust from that starting point. Nitto/Toyo are pretty good about recommendations. They were dead on with the Sequoia!

Not sure what you previously had, but likely stock to Ridge Grapplers, there will be a decrease in MPG due to increased rolling resistance.

I run 35 psi cold on my RG’s, same size as yours. I wore down the middle tread my stock tires pretty quickly running 40-44 psi in them. Still got 44k out of em though.

Will running a higher than "recommended" psi set off the Tire Pressure Warning Light?

Since I run higher than what is posted on the door stamp (like 40-46psi). I haven’t had any TPMS issues.

I’d be curious if anyone tried it with like 75psi on some heavier rated tires. Like is there a threshold you can’t go over?

Email Nitto. One of their engineers can give you what psi you should run. Thats what i did a few days ago when my Generals showed up. They were friendly and more than helpful.

So I just got my trd pro wheels and new tires installed. Tpms sensor is on. Installer said because the air pressure is higher than the oem recommendation.

I think some of us was wondering how high of psi can you go without getting a tpms light? Or is there no limit aka no light at any psi above the minimum amount of psi?

For what you should run that comes down to the tire, load index, hauling/towing/payload, etc. I’d say just make sure you all get the same load index or higher. And don’t go over the max psi rated for that tire. Keep the minimum psi what’s on the door. 1/2 tons usually around 35-40 +/- (typically)

My psi light is on after new tires. I think it’s directly related to the tire shop OVER airing my tires. Is that a thing?
