My guess is that it's either not a Waltrip but someone put those wheels on it, or it is, but someone swapped the bed decals. I didn't think any Double Cabs came with TRD stickers but I could be wrong. It also looks like the TRD sticker isn't in the usual spot.

Regardless, it's a nice truck.

Not much of a story, I considered just replacing the bed. But I am too much of a hipster I guess so I decided I was going to do something unique and came up with that design. I call it my Mullet bed, cause it normal up front, crazy in the back. That and I wanted a reason to buy a welder, so tried it out. I am happy with the results. This is how it looked when I bought it.

I love it, but man, that wheel offset is killing me with those FJ wheels. How thick are the wheel spacers on that MF'er that it's poking 3" outside the fender? Clearly it had a previous life as a malldozer.

Haha it does have 2” spacers. It came with the spacers, I was planning on removing them, but the fj wheel has too much backspace and my tire was rubbing the steering knuckle so I put the spacers back on to save my front tires. I am currently shopping wheels that will give me about 1” poke and do away with the spacers all together.

Dunno if you've caught this thread yet. But the "Suspension, wheel and tires ..." section about 1/3 of the way down the #1 post has a shitload of advice for that topic. The tl;dr is, depending on wheel width, you'll want to aim for ~4¼" - 4¾" backspace to avoid rub, and right around 4.35" is probably gonna be the backspace sweet spot for the amount of poke you're hunting, unless you plan to keep the flares off, then 4.5" backspace on a 9" wide wheel will likely land you there.

I have been reading that post quite a bit. Fortunately I have a while to make a decision. I am doing LCA’s, LBJ’s, UCA’s, and replacing the tuff country sub frame. Which has eaten my truck budget for the year haha

How are you going about killing the Tuff Country stuff? Get a donor crossmember from a good truck and weld it in? We have quite a few members on here that'd love to do just that, but the Tuff Country kit requires doing irreversible cutting to the crossmember.

Well shoot now I’m going to have to re-evaluate my plan. My impression from examination was that the subframe drop piece just bolted into the factory LCA bolt holes and then you just remounted the LCA’s to the new lowered subframe. And I definitely could be using the wrong terms for things. IMG_9945.png
This is the driver side where the lift kit adds height by lowering the control arm.
    IMG_9946.png
this is the passenger side where the whole unit got mashed toward the back of the truck a couple inches
So my plan was to just take that drop frame piece and replace it with an undamaged one… but now I need to go lay down and look at it more thoroughly to make sure I’m not missing something.

This thread may be a help: https://www.tundras.com/threads/hi06silvers-unf-ck-my-tuff-country-lift-thread.90187/

Here's the PDF install for the 4.5" kit: https://static.thiecommerce.com/ass...ions-pdf/43231224db1824272b20798a1f3a243d.pdf
It looks like this is the PDF for the 5" kit: https://static.thiecommerce.com/ass...ions-pdf/54c36b1eb619774b5cc389f6993ed099.pdf

It appears both kits (though the images in the 5" kit make it hard to tell b/c they're in separate areas) require cutting the crossmember.

Look at the 4.5" kit instructions, and see if the cuts they show are also present on your truck's crossmember.

Note that RCD also sells a bracket lift for these trucks, I'm 75% sure that one also requires cutting. I don't think there are bolt-on bracket lifts for these trucks, but I may be wrong!

I appreciate all that, I will definitely look at it when I get back to my truck. I guess I might just have to persuade that one piece back to true, and then maybe add some reinforcement. The truck came with the lift, it’s been one long learning curve haha
