First, I want to admit I skipped from the end of page 9 to here to post.

    Second, I'm also very confused.

How can folks who own every year 1st Gen be ordering the recall kit if there are two different bolt sizes, depending on the year?

I have an '07 Sequoia, btw.

    Thanks,

I think this is part of the reason most dealers won't sell you the kit. And even McGeorge (now "Ourisman") Toyota, who actually will sell you that kit tells you in very clear text "we can't verify this kit for any vehicle, and we won't accept returns". If you know 100% it's the right kit, good on ya! You just saved about 10-20%! But if you're in a crossover year, like 2004 Tundra for example, I sure as fuck wouldn't buy the kit, you may be stuck eating the money you just saved.

Your best bet, always, is to look in the EPC to find your part number based on your exact VIN, and order individual joints, with 8 new bolts. The part numbers will be in the EPC for all the above, left joint, right joint, and bolts.

There are some cases where the EPC is not easy to read. In those cases, I'd urge people to post pics of what they found in EPC (a pic of the diagram) so someone who knows better can help you decipher. There are sometimes year cutoffs on parts, one part if up to the cutoff date, the other part number is for after that cutoff date. I've found dealer counter-jockeys who don't even understand it and I had to explain it to them. I've even found some I can't explain, and neither could they!

Sometimes when you're in an old swamp, you gotta expect things to be clear as mud.
